This is the place I take everyone over 50 for lunch. The Allied Arts setting is gorgeous -- just walking in gets you in a good mood. There's always parking nearby, if a member of the party doesn't like to walk far.
Inside the lovely Colonial California building, the restaurant is busy without being crowded, the portions are good without being overwhelming, and the service is attentive without being invasive. Only locals go there (it's good to see the neighborhood back in force) so it's friendly and unostentatious, while still being gracious.
I don't think I've had a bad entree there -- everyone talks about the grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches (which are good), but I prefer their salads and (real) burger. Their warm soups are good. Desserts are weak (skip the apple purses -- they're overwrapped turnovers), so enjoy an appetizer instead.
Pros: Lovely Setting, Gracious Service
Cons: Desserts Still Need Work
