I like Cafe Pasquals, but it is ridiculously expensive. Breakfast for two is $40 with tip, a little crazy when all you are eating is eggs, toast and bacon (which BTW is $5 for a ...

Soup in a pumpkin 11/19/2009

I am actually from Utah, but I can tell you, they have an interesting menu. Sort of remember that it was just a bit pricy for the food. That Pumpkin soup they served when I was there, was just to die for, pretty good stuff. I don't know if they serve that anymore, but nummy. Pros: Nice cozy dining Cons: Have only eaten there once. more

Sophisticated dinner menu 10/27/2008

I'm constantly amazed at the people who trash Cafe Pasquale's dinner menu--I always take out-of-towners there and I don't think I've had a bad meal. Coming from Los Angeles I can appreciate the mix of pan-asian dishes with New Mexican and American. Terrific desserts, I would recomment the roasted peach ice cream any time. Service is usually good, only downside is the small restaurant sometimes makes for tight quarters and it can be hard to get reservations. The community table can be a good way to meet other people from all over. more

Resting on its Laurels 1/23/2008

I have dined at Cafe Pasqual's several time over the years. My most recent experience (1/08) may be my last. Although we were greeted by a friendly host and seated relatively promptly, our server was brusque and unhelpful, seemingly resentful that he had to serve customers at all. The food was tasty, but only in an ordinary way. None of the dishes our party of five ordered piqued anyone's interest. Certainly no entrees justified their high prices. Established restaurants in Santa Fe sometimes rest on their laurels and lose their way, perhaps seduced by the ready money of the tourist trade. This fate, alas, seems to have befallen Cafe Pasqual's. Pros: Still a fun atmosphere Cons: Food, service, high prices more

mediocre at best 6/17/2007

Prior to this we have had lunch there and it was fine. We recently had dinner there and the dinner menu is totally different from the lunch menu. It was quite bad and way overpriced! Sweet pork for tacos, fish wrapped in banana leaves that tasted like they had been wrapped in grass clippings. They cannot pull off their chic menu. Stick to breakfast and lunch. more

Creative Cuisine 4/11/2007

My sister and I passed by this restaurant several times and there was always a line to get in. We finally stopped by and made reservations for dinner and it was delicious! The cuisine is very creative, with organic ingredients used as much as possible. The portions were adequate, and the staff very friendly. Our waiter expertly steered us to just the right dishes, and his wine suggestions were right on. We will definitely return to this spot on our next visit. Pros: Food, ambience, service Cons: Parking, small space more

Best breakfast in Santa Fe 7/10/2006

Wow! I was told by friends this was a breakfast ""must,"" and they were right. The trout hash with poached eggs that my husband ordered was heavenly. They will make a half order for half-price plus $1, so I ordered a half-portion of the chorizo egg burrito. It was still large enough for 2 to share; spicy, flavorful and a good buy. We ate here our last morning in Santa Fe; had I known how good it was, I would have eaten here every morning! more

Go elsewhere! 12/26/2005

There are so many wonderful restaurants in this magical city . . .choose one but not this one for dinner. The menu promised more than the food could deliver (note: Stay away from ""Pigs and Figs"") Have an over priced glass of wine at the communal table to meet someone interesting if you must go. more

overpriced tourist trap 6/2/2005

The food is distinctly average-to-poor in a town where you can get great food in many, many restaurants. And it's extremely overpriced. The $25 salmon I ordered was still frozen in the middle. Good wine selection, though. Pros: wine, near plaza Cons: food, service, prices more

A Very Expensive Breakfast 6/1/2003

I like Cafe Pasquals, but it is ridiculously expensive. Breakfast for two is $40 with tip, a little crazy when all you are eating is eggs, toast and bacon (which BTW is $5 for a side order!!!). I love tradition and old places but for the cost this place is off limits!!! Cons: cost more

Santa Fe Classic 5/16/2002

This is a great restaurant for any meal. The flavors are bold and the atmosphere is lively. Drop in for a hearty traditional breakfast or a spicy Southwestern-style lunch. Pros: Great food Cons: Parking more
