I loved the food, Service and that it is like a hole in the wall. Thats what makes it awesome. Aside of course the great tasting food. I am a Puerto Rican from NYC and this is the...

Really Great! 4/14/2006

This is a great restaurant for anyone that likes to try differnet ethnic fare. I live in Pflugerville and have driven by it for a year now. I wish I had tried it sooner. The portions were large there wasn't a thing on our plates that we didn't absolutely love! Let's put it this way, there are restaurants that I drive into Austin for. If this were in Austin, I'd go for this one. Pros: The food Cons: parking more

Carribean food in North Austin area 3/19/2006

My family went to this restaurant Saturday night. The bacalao was good. The lechon and Cuban sandwich were a little on the greesy side. The flan was made with cream cheese which made it a little heavy. The mojitos were great! Cons: parking more

A Real Gem 1/15/2006

My family & I really enjoyed Cafe Mangu! The service was so caring and genuine and the food was delicious! The ropa vieja was seasoned and prepared wonderfully. Try the tres leches for desert. We took home a slice. Pros: Excellent service, Authentic food Cons: not much parking more

Yea! Something different! (and yummy) 11/22/2005

We started with a couple Mojitos and the Lobster, Crab, and Shrimp salad in vinegrette. The portion size was huge (no skimping on the seafood here!) Only wish they'd pumped up the vinegrette with more lime or salt. The Paella is outstanding! I felt like I was back in Spain. We finished with a taste of the Cortado de leche (uber-sweet with fresh fruit) and the tres leches. Both were extremely well done. The service was very friendly and informative. The restaurant is located in an old house with bright tropical colors. All in all, 'a keeper'. Highly recommended. Pros: Food, Service, Value Cons: Parking more

Impressed! 11/16/2005

I was very impressed with the food and service I received at Cafe Mangu. The food was a refreshing change from all the mexican restaurants in the area and the outdoor patio was a great spot to relax and unwind. Highly recommended to anyone looking for something different from the usual. more

Loved it! 11/6/2005

I went to this place with my boyfriend who has parents from both Costa Rica and Puerto Rico. He took me there so I could get a taste for Caribbean food. I LOVED it. The atmosphere was very laid back. If you like Caribbean food and just want to try something low-key and different I highly recommend it! Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Drinks more

Great Find 11/3/2005

How lucky Pflugerville is to have such a charming, unique place. I had never had ""Caribbean"" cuisine but was pleasantly surprised with Mangu's presentation of it. They have a full bar and a nice outdoor patio. I split the paella with another person and although the wait was longer, it was worth it for a dish that didn't scimp on the amount of meat mixed in it. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Clean more
