We just got back from another fantastic meal at Cafe Lucci. I had the Veal Gorgonzola and my wife had the sea bass with artichokes and capers. Both dishes were perfect. Appetizer ...

Finest Italian Food in a Surprising Place 5/23/2006

This place was the favorite restaurant of my boss when I first started working for the most evil and horrible company in the world, Aon Consulting. This was the place that was the restaurant to go to for the "welcome" lunches that were standard for client teams back there. Having tasted some great Italian food in Chicago, I had to wonder what this tiny place that sort of looked like a house could possibly have that would make it such a rave. The food, well, I can't even begin to describe how fantastic the food is. I found dishes here I was never willing to try other places and I just loved them. There was one dish with artichokes in it, for crying out loud. Do you know how good a meal has to be to get me to eat artichokes? Pretty freaking good. The desserts are also amazing. The italian ices come in scooped out fruit halves. So, if you get the lemon ice you can expect it to come in a lemon half and frozen solid. Same with the coconut ice. There is also a dessert that involves a banana and chocolate that you actually have to order as soon as you sit down because it takes that long to put it together. Hard to find because it is in a place where you would not expect to find great Italian dining, but worth the effort. more
