I thought that I was walking into a high class restaurant but the service and the food did not reflect the environment. I ordered my steak med. And it came out alive no matter how...

Love their hummos and their fish dishes, great service ! more

Decent food - great desserts 1/23/2010

The service is excellent, although the wait is always much too long even if you have a reservation. I rarely return if this happens 2x in a row! The food generally is quite good, desserts are exceptional. Pros: see headline! Cons: have to wait too long for reserved tables more

Birthday let down.......... 3/30/2007

So, I went to Cafe Esin for my Birthday with a large group of friends. We dropped over $600. The staff was extremely unfriendly. We brought in our own cake and we were made to feel like they were teasing us as if we did something wrong. We had asked if we could and were told yes. The whole experience was very uncomfortable. It was a let down for my Birthday. I regreted going there. On top of which the food.......not so great. Just so-so. I will not go back there again and will not recommend it to anyone. Pros: easy to get to. Cons: unfriendly environment more

High prices, low rate food 3/30/2007

I thought that I was walking into a high class restaurant but the service and the food did not reflect the environment. I ordered my steak med. And it came out alive no matter how many times they tried to get my meal right the end result was the same horse meat and cattle feed. The service was very poor for the amount of money that I paid for this meal. In the long run I would not go to Cafe Esin again. Pros: This place looks nice Cons: Everything from service to food more

Best fish Ever 10/30/2006

The food was brilliant, tasty, elegant, and sophisticated. My halibut was absolutely the best executed and flavored dish I have ever had. The service was excellent, knowledgeable, and professional. The waiter knew the menu in and out. The wine list was an unbelievable value with some incredible wines that were barely priced above retail. No wonder they have so many accolades. Pros: Thumbs way up Cons: location, a little hard to find more

Is this San Ramon? 2/28/2006

I am visiting from LA and here on business. The Marriott front desk recommended Cafe Esin and I was skeptical. When I walked throught the door I thought I had been taken to another place. The food was absolutely outstanding. I had the Salmon with fresh chanterelles and tasso ham. Salmon was cooked superbly and the sauce was unbelievably good. Dessert was everything promised and more. No wonder the place is so busy. Excellent service & Great wine list also. Could not believe that I was still in San Ramon. Bravo Pros: extremely fresh fish, great service, bread pudding more

Nice atmosphere and good value in San Ramon 9/29/2005

My family and I visited Cafe Esin for dinner last night, and were quite pleasantly surprised with this hidden joy in San Ramon. The food was excellent for all of us. We were greeted and seated promptly, service was quick and very professional (but certainly not stuffy), and the food presentation was wonderful. This little gem of a restaurant is tucked back off the main parking area of a 'strip mall' type of situation. So, it was not easily seen from the street. But, I'm glad we found it. Pros: Service, Food presentation, Food quality Cons: Difficult to locate more

What a find! 3/31/2005

My friends and I eat out each month at different restaurants in San Francisco. We were very impressed with the great food & great service. We considered ourselves lucky to find such a fine restaurant especialy in San Ramon!!!! Pros: Pot Roast, All desserts Cons: a little hard to find more

Not what was expected 3/5/2005

To begin the service was very poor. The food was far from par and the dessert did not pleaseme. From the review I was expecting much better than I recieved, but I was more disappointed than satisfied. I'd rather travel than waste my time and money!!!! Pros: small, little, shoping mall Cons: poor service, Poor ambiance, poor location more

Excellent 11/6/2004

My girlfriend and I went to Cafe Esin and had dinner. The food was great. The service was great. Dessert was incredible. I can't believe a restaurant like this in San Ramon. Truly a find. Pros: dessert, good parking, great service more

Good 9/4/2004

The food is ok, sometimes it can be bland. Service is good and the wine list and prices are super! The menu is always the same or similar to the last. Could be more creative. Pros: wine list, wine price more

Will go again! 5/20/2003

Cafe Esin is a nice restaurant to take a date or for business. The menu changes, and always offers something good. It's not necessarily a place to eat cheap, but if you're willing to pay for a nice dinner this place is worth a try. Been there twice and I'll definitely go again. Pros: Romantic, Good Food Cons: Can be loud, Can be crowded more

SF excellence in the eastbay burbs 1/30/2003

This place is just great! Excellent and interesting cuisine, killer desserts in a funky little strip mall like setting. Good value and ecclectic wine list. A complete package for those in the burbs that don't want to make the pilgrimage to SF for SF grade fare. This is a don't miss spot, the word on Esin is getting out, Zagats rates its food a 24, make a reservation, it can get crowded. Pros: Top quality food, good value, great desserts Cons: parking can be tricky, funky location, beer and wine only more

Appetizers/desserts are the stars 1/25/2003

Dinner last night started and ended on a high note. The meze platter we shared was terrific - enough for 2 and very flavorful. We also shared dessert - Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake (they were out of their signature bread pudding) was light and delicious. Our entrees of halibut with winter vegetables (about a 7) and butternut squash risotto (a 2 or 3) were mostly flavorless. The phyllo-wrapped chicken wasn't on the menu, and we like to eat light, so pot roast wasn't a good choice for us. We may give it another try, but it was only so-so. Pros: dessert, appetizer Cons: short entree menu more
