Must try...it will become your favorite place!!! 8/4/2011

Don't listen to the psycho reviewer about Scott as he and his crew are fabulous, do an outstanding job! Believe me, I know from experience of dining here for many years and often! It use to be 1 of few Cafe de France restaurants that the owner sold. Scott got this one and by listening to customer inputs changed the name to Cafe Mon Ami. Menu similar to original, but with addons, improvements and specials. My favorite is stuffed French Toast, when I need to get my sweet fix. Eggs benedict and omelets with the champagne sauce, anything with the champagne sauce. Steaks cooked to perfection. Great nightly specials. All I can say is not to listen to the psycho reviewer and go and try it out. You will love it! Scott is friendly and likes to make sure your experience is a great one. I have NEVER had a bad experience there. Yummy!!!!!! more

Great Food and Excellent service 3/9/2011

Great change of pace from the norm. Scott and his staff are always very professional and welcoming. Don't believe the previous negative reviews. They are just not true. My wife and I are regular customers. You owe it to yourself to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. more

Owner is a CREAP!!!! 2/17/2011

I don't even want to give this restaurant one star. The owner makes you feel very uncomfortable and personally reminds me of a child molestor. If you want to enjoy your meal with the people you come with don't come to this crappy little place!! He won't leave you alone and frankly is annoying and weird. I would much rather go to the Cafe De France off of Orchard and I-25 same items just different names, better food quality and no Scott Gaines and his rude attitude. Seriously don't waste your time with this restaurant. more

Enjoyed it 12/6/2010

I went there for my first time a few weeks ago thanks to an irresistible breakfast coupon. My friend and I both had a cordon bleu skillet. It was quite good. The service was friendly and the place very comfortable. I'll definitely go back. more

Good Food, Fair Price, Good Staff 11/3/2008

This place has good food at a good price. Stuffed croissant French toast, omelets and crepes with either a spinach or champagne sauce are excellent, if unfriendly to your waist line. Of course, who eats at a place with a French influence with a worry of calories in mind?\r \r Unlike the complaints listed seem to indicate, our meals have been exactly as described in their menu with one exception (see later). The staff has always been polite and about the only thing I can think of that can be frustrating is that it is small restaurant (which I personally like), thus has a small kitchen and service can be a little delayed when they are packed, but the staff checks back and keeps you appraised. We have only sent back an item once, a seafood omelet where the fake crab stuff was used. We felt it was our fault, we didn?t clarify before ordering, but the staff took it back without question or comment other than to note they were wrong as they need to upgrade the menu to reflect the change. \r \r It should be noted they must be doing something right because they continue to have a constant clientele and it is not uncommon to have to wait for a table during popular dining times and days, especially breakfast and lunch on any given holiday. Staff is obviously a close team and I have seen the owner step in for his staff when working with hostile, really out of line, patrons, but never to the extremes noted here. Although, if finger pointing, shouting or public snickering/rude commentary about customers occurred, then yes, the staff and the management need to stop and reassess their customer service objectives, because that type of behavior is unacceptable, whether you are the management, staff or customer. Pros: Great food more

HORRIBLE MOTHERS DAY EXPERIENCE-SCOTT GAINES OWNER 5/11/2008

After hearing how the Owner SCOTT GAINES treated my mother on mother's day I hope somebody treats his mother in the same way. There was an issue with the waiting list and my mother made a comment. The Owner proceeded to get in my mothers face and yell at her saying if she had a problem she needed to take it to him and not the hostess. He proceeded to point his finger in her face and ask her if she understood. HE MADE MY MOTHER CRY ON MOTHERS DAY.....Very Unprofessional!!!!!!! I think this restaurant has bad aura anyways.....I agree with the previous posting stating the staff is rude.....well so is the owner. I have eaten at this restaurant once and I thought the staff was terrible and the food is not all that great either. MESSAGE TO THE OWNER you need to take some customer service skills classes OR GET OUT OF THE BUSINESS. more

Snotty Staff 3/23/2008

My husband and I went to Cafe De France for the first time this morning. I have heard great things about it, however we were not impressed. There was a wait, but being that is was easter morning it was to be expected. Once we were seated we found it to be very cozy, a nice quaint little place. My husband ordered Steak and Eggs, and I the Crepe Sante Fe, which had a green chile sauce. Once we received our meals, I realized that the green chile sauce had pork in it, I do not eat pork and I found it a little odd since the crepe it self had chicken in it. I asked the waitress fr some thing else, and explained that I did not realize there was pork in the sauce. She was very nice about it, apologized and said they would take the crepes off my order. At this point I was still very pleased with the place, as she was very helpful in getting the situation resolved. While we were waiting for my new order of a chicken and broc omelet, we heard what I would call the senior staff talking about why I did not have a plate. I think the waitresses could give the ""Senior staff"" a lesson in manners. I heard one of them say ""well, as far as I know, green chile always has pork in it"", they said other things as well along these same lines. I found this to be incredibly rude. First, way to put it back on the customer, I wasn't complaining or making a scene, why not just say 'oh, I'm sorry there was confusion' or something of that nature. Second we were right next to where they were all peering into the dining room, which was a little weird in it self. I think it's always rude to speak in a negative way about your customers, but especially if they are in ear shot! I would also like to clarify that yes I would expect a bowl of green chile to have pork in it, however ""a green chile sauce"" I would expect to be exactly that, a sauce made from green chiles. The meal went down hill from there. My replacement dish was OK, but nothing to write home about. Pros: Extensive menu Cons: Stuck up staff more

Wonderful Food! 1/31/2008

Best ""meeting"" place for friends and family to have a quiet meal and be able to talk and actually hear too. Staff friendly and quick. Food is wonderful and tasty. Breakfast is a must, especially the seafood omlet....has quickly become the weekend neighborhood place for breakfast. Dinners are fantastic and worth the try. \r \r You're missing out if you don't give it at least one try! Pros: Food has ALWAYS been good, wait staff has always been great more

Yummy 1/18/2006

I love this restaurant - you can order virtually anything served on a croissant (even croissant hamburgers). Their crepes are amazing! The ingredients always taste fresh, and I like how a lot of the meals are served with fruit on the side. Waitstaff is really nice. Definitely worth checking out. Pros: tasty, unique, fresh more

Great escape from the chains 10/13/2005

I really enjoy this resturant. The food is always wonderful. So perfect for lunch! Nice and intimant for dinner. The sandwiches are to die for and the french onion is perfect. Its so nice to have an authentic French place in the suburbs. Pros: Great food, cozy, good parking Cons: no reservations, no french staff, needs better decor more

Not too shabby 9/26/2005

It's an unassuming little spot, as I thought it was only a bakery. I was suprised to see their menu, which is along the lines of a bistro menu with many breakfast selections. They had selections such as escargot, croque monsieur and madame, steak au poivre, poulet roti (to name a few). It isn't the fanciest looking place as the inside reminded me of a fancy Denny's, but the staff was very friendly. Pros: Inexpensive, Good eats, Friendly Staff Cons: Small, Dull Atmosphere more
