Best

I am a big fan of Mexican food and have had my fair share of burritos over the years, so you could say I have a pretty discerning palate when it comes to this type of food... and ...

Worst

the margaritas at the cactus club are absolutely terrible. the food is ok, but i cannot understand how their margaritas are considered drinkable, let alone the best in boston.

Sangria, Margs & Patio! 6/25/2006

The Cactus Club has the best patio in Boston hands down! We always stop there after Sox games for the new sangria. The food has gotten a lot better recently and they have killer margs too (go for the perfect marg in the fancy glass). Pros: Patio, Sangria, Margaritas Cons: Sometimes is there's a little bit of a wait for the patio. more

There might be better... 6/21/2006

Although I am having a difficult time finding a good Tex-Mex restaurant in Boston, I do know that Cactus Club probably isn't as good as it gets. The food was mediocre. I don't know what else to say. No one in our party of 5 thought it was anything special. The queso was disappointing also which is hard to mess up. I did enjoy the classic margarita. The environment was fun although it was way too loud to have a conversation at a table for 5. As for me, I will continue my search for good Mexican food in Boston. Pros: Classic Margarita Cons: Loud more

From the title, you can imagine how disappointed I was in my first and last Cactus Club margarita; they were unimaginative and elementary to say the least, and all the hype has just become annoying. The menu was alright, but again, average and uninspired. The music is terrible, fortunately you can barely hear it, and don't even get me started on the staff, the bartenders and doorstaff especially. I could go for hours, but I simply regret my visit, and want to give everyone a heads up. Pros: Serve alcohol, Location Cons: Rude staff, Weak margaritas, No fun more

Disgusting margaritas 5/5/2006

The margaritas my friends and I ordered tasted like soap. We thought maybe our glasses were not washed out well and ordered different types of margaritas. Those tastes as soap as well...it must be their mix. more

Margarita Madhouse 3/10/2006

this place gets uncomfortably tight on the weekends, the frozen margaritas are served out of machines--I'm baffled by the #1 vote they got for best margaritas. Sorry, but boston don't know mexican. Stay away from their food, it's really bad (served cold as well), actually, I'd recommend staying away period. more

I loved ""Margaritas and Massages"" 11/16/2005

What a great way to unwind after a hard day at work ! This Wednesday promotion they run has two of my favorite things. I brought a group from work and we all had awesome margaritas and the a free massage. Dinner afterward was great. Cactus Club is one of my favorite hangouts in the Back bay. Pros: inexpensive, great food, awesome Margs Cons: Busy more

Great drinks, Cheesy Promotions 11/2/2005

My group and I stopped by for Happy Hour on a Wednesday afternoon for ""Margaritas and Massages"". What we thought was a cool idea was actually an opportunity for a 5 minute massage to be a 5 minute sales pitch for Sauza tequila. It was quite annoying really. Overall though, the drinks were fabulous (my fave was the Mojito Margarita), the food was pretty good, and the servers were very attentive. Pros: Great Drinks, Decent Food, Happy Hour Specials Cons: Cheesy Promotions more

Amazing Margaritas! 5/30/2005

I go to the Cactus Club after work several times a week for food and drinks. Their margaritas are unbelievable (my favorite is the Horni Marg) and they even have a ""Build Your Own Margarita Night"" every Tuesday where you get to create your own margs with the help of the awesome bartenders! The food is great too and the staff is very friendly and. When its warm and sunny, there's nothing better than kicking back out on the patio with a margarita and some nachos! Pros: awseome staff, reasonable prices, great drinks Cons: wait fri&sat night more

Damn....those margs will kick your a##! 5/29/2005

The Cactus Club is one of the best bars in the Back Bay I have been to in a while. Knowing that it has been around for years, I decided to bring guests visiting town there to show them a good time (It was my first time as well). We all had a blast. The bartenders acted like they have known you for years, friendly with smiles galore. The food was out of this world. We had a few apps because it was Happy Hour and we had to take advantage of thier 1/2 price appetizers, snake bites and flautas are to die for! We heard from a cocktail waitress, whom none of us guys could determine which one of the 2 (3 if you include the bartender) was more beautiful (georgeous!) that they also serve Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays! Psyched. We'll deffintly be back often. Pros: Georgeous Staff, Great Food, Great atmosphere Cons: Staff wont date you, b/c they are better, looking than you! more

Great Place 5/29/2005

I love it! This place has great food, servoce & a relaxing and exciting atmosphere. Pros: Everything, Everything, Everything Cons: Nothing, Nothing, Nothing more

tasty treats! :P 1/25/2005

I go to the Cactus Club at Lest once every other week, usually more, to meet my girlfriends and hang out. The staff is unbelieveably friendly and the margaritas are to die for! I have only ate ther a couple of times and found it to be very tasty to my surprise (considering i don't like mexican food very much)! I would reccomend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to drink and eat without all the underage crowd hanging about. It's more for anyone between 23 & 40. Pros: superb service, supurb food, great margaritas Cons: none, none, none more

30+? Uh...no. 1/20/2005

Did this, done that, great place...but not for 30+ crowd. Don't want have all those pretty 30 something old ladies waisting their time on post-undergrad boys when she could be out scamming on something real. more

Fun under the cactus Sun 10/21/2004

The Cactus Club...one of the few places left around Boston (back bay) where you can go there not very frequently, and have the bartenders remember you...SO friendly. The service in the dining room in so great, they are so polite and never slack when it comes to doing their job! It's a great place to hang out after work, (half off all apps in the bar) and meet friends or coworkers. I have never had any issues or problems at the Cactus Club, and it because they see to it that thier customers don't. Pros: Maragritas, Half Apps, Service! Cons: , and servers keep you, coming back to spend more

Good Times! 6/14/2004

Th great service and awesome food are well worth the wait (if there is one) and there are tables available outside on nice days. The bar is all but guarenteed to be a great time, especially on Thursday-Saturday nights. Their margaritas are unbeatable as are the bartenders and cocktail waitresses. Just last month they had a selection of over 30 margaritas! Pros: Awesome margaritas!, Great food, Excellent service more

best margs ever!!!! 6/7/2004

On any given night Cactus Club has an extensive list of margaritas, but when I went the other night and saw their 30 margs of may I had never seen a list of margs that compared. prickly pear was by far the best margarita i've ever had. Horni used to be my fav, but this special list invented drinks that go above and beyond the high expectations i already had. Pros: good crowd, hot staff, a million tequilas Cons: , hard to park more

Why do people go here? 12/21/2003

I've been to the Cactus Club several times, and have consistently been underwhelmed. The margaritas tasted like they were made from a liquor store mix, not from scratch! The bar layout is also pretty claustrophobic, making it hard to have a ""good time"" when you're constantly being elbowed by random frat boy-types. The food isn't much better, in fact, I had an upset stomach one evening after dining there... I'm not sure if it was caused by their margaritas or their food, but needless to say, I won't waste any time figuring that out. Pros: fairly inexpensive Cons: crowded, bland food more

Keeps gettin' better..... 11/4/2003

This place really knows what it takes to be a great and lasting bar/restaurant! I stopped in one night early in the ACLS series -- they installed a new projection TV in the dining room to make game watching more enjoyable. They've also got a new drink menu and have added a Caipirinha. I'm not sure what they last reviewer was talking about in regards to the margs here -- I've never tasted a better one - try the BAJA, it's my favorite! more

worst margaritas in boston 9/22/2003

the margaritas at the cactus club are absolutely terrible. the food is ok, but i cannot understand how their margaritas are considered drinkable, let alone the best in boston. more

Best Margaritas, Not the Best Food 9/5/2003

Didn't really find the food that great the few times I have been, they have a great selection of Margarita's though, but I would take Border Cafe any day... Pros: Snow Cone Margarita Cons: Nowhere to park, Busy more

Love the free taco 6/22/2003

Sunday. Mostly though I've only been to the bar and every time I have SO MUCH FUN. This bar has a great feel to it. The margaritas are fabulous (MUCH, MUCH better than Fajita's and Ritas...don't bother there). Great place to meet and have fun. Pros: Location, Ambience, Drinks more
