If you want to see the best of folksy songsters they have ALL played and continue to play there. Makes me proud I'm a country boy born in Austin when that's all there was. Even ol dylan played those parts in early 60's alone again naturually. more

small, intimate venue 5/20/2002

A great place to check lesser-known perfomers and up-and-coming artists. Great acoustics and location. more

    Open since 1975, people go for amazing music with hopes of catching the next Nanci Griffith or Robert Earl Keen (frequent past guests) grace the stage. The bar serves everything from coffee to vodka tonics and ordering drinks barely disrupts the quiet atmosphere since the stage is on the opposite end of the cafe. Laid-back Cactus attendees are serious music fans and rarely raise their voices above whispers during performances.
