Wow, this place is expensive, the food kinda sucks and the waiter brought me my check before I even finished eating. Come on Tucsonans, there is no reason a resturant like this should have a line out the door. more

okay, let me start by saying that claim jumper is one of my top favorite restaurants, providing hearty ""man food"" and delicious salads for the most finicky of females. HOWEVER, the tucson location is simply not up to par. the california establishments are FAR better, the service smoother, and the food tastier. it's disappointing, although it probably won't stop my patronage. and, for the folks who complain about the atmosphere - go to North for quiet dining! claim jumpers was never meant to be a great date place but a family-style restaurant meant to please pop to tot. where else can you order a piece of cake for 7 bucks that feeds 6-8? OMgosh! Where to start! This is my familes favorite place to dine. The first time we went there were were astonished at the portion sizes! Everything was HUGE, from the appetizers to that chocolate mother lode cake. The service was oustanding, the food was the best we'd ever tasted and well worth the price. Bring your appetite! My family and I ate at the one in Tempe, and though we thought it was a little pricey, The portions were HUGE, the food was EXCELLENT, and a bit of advice, DON'T ever order the chocolate cake, that thing is 6 layers high, if you order it, you better have someone you love with ya to share! My wife and I planned a special night without kids and chose the new Claim Jumper as our destination. What a horrible dissappointment. We went on a Monday night and the place was packed. The noise level was out of control. Our server was less than attentive to the fact that I sat with an empty drink more than once. We were also told by our server that we could grab ""anyone"" and get service. I did, and was told I had to wait for my server. The food was mediocre tasting at best and WAY overpriced. If my wife and spend almost $100 on our meal, it better be great. It was not. This establishment would probably be great if you chose to use it for a large gathering. Romance though??
