Clear's customer service is poor at best and speeds and services offered are typically less than promised. On top of slow speeds it is also patchy and unreliable. I had Clear for my business and two home modems for a couple of years. When I first signed the contract and got started the speeds that I received were greater than promised. But within a month or two I was receiving 1.2Mbps out of the 6Mbps that I paid for. Eventually that speed dropped to .75Mbps. The reason for these slow speeds was because Clear throttles users that they decide use too much bandwidth. Also if one of your accounts goes over the bandwidth limit they will throttle all of your accounts, at least they did in my case. I do not spend a large amount of time surfing the web, but at home I like to stream Netflix. The three or four movies I was watching a week caused Clear to make my internet at work, and my other account unbearably slow. Promises that you can use Clear towers in other cities are also false. I tried it and although my modem lit up with a green light to tell me that I had a great signal, Clear blocks users from using their towers in different cities. They might have some sort of roaming plan that can be purchased, but the sales rep told me it was included which is one of the major reasons I went with Clear in the first place. But the most annoying part of dealing with Clear is if you decide they have broken enough promises to cause you to cancel service. It is a four step phone call to get to the person that has the authority to cancel service. It takes roughly a half hour if you only have to do it once. They managed to hang up on me "by mistake" 4 times on the very last step of the cancellation process. After talking with other customers I found out this is a typical thing that they do. Also keep in mind that if they convinced you to do an automatic withdraw from your checking account, there is no way to dispute any of the charges that may come up during the termination. It just comes out of the account.
