First off, this was 5th of July and the place was busy with the leftover holiday traffic. So keep this in mind. Our family went for lunch around 1pm and abandoned getting tables together and went for a couple booths, due to the place being busy, especially with a load of fireman who had come in before us. We had a tall brunette as a waitress, who, after observing for a while, I could see was ""in the weeds"". Now I say she was, not the other staff. The other servers were hopping around and soon, we could see they were trying to cover the slack our server couldn't handle. One of our booths finally got to order. Then instead of taking our booth's order, the server put their order in, putzed around and then came to our table over 10 minutes later. She apparently hadn't taken advantage of her skilled coworkers abilities and tried to learn from them how to serve. She came once after 15 minutes of taking our order, to refill the ice teas. Then another 15 minutes later brought one of the meals to our table. 10 minutes later, she came and said they were out of hashbrowns. After giving her our replacement choice, it was another 15 minutes before getting the rest of our meal, with my eggs done a different style than ordered and the wife's order cold. The food itself was ok. Prices were reasonable for portions given. My wife's meal did get comp'd due to coldness (we saw that she actually did bring her plate as it came to the pass), so that was the cook's fault.
My folks, who live there, have had several meals there and said this was unusual for this place, but that this server had served them before and had the similar difficulties.
Given the fact that Margie's Diner is a few miles North of this place, I would never return to CJ's and eat at Margie's where service has always been spot on and food portions very large for the money.
Pros: Pricing is reasonable
Cons: Very poor service
