Deadly Mistake 12/23/2008

A friend of mine went to GMC for a procedure to remove a cist from her uterus. After the procedure was completed she was sent home. About a week later she was in severe pain and went back to GMC emerg. The dr's told her she just had a low pain tolerance and said she was fine to go home but she resisted and insisted she was truly in abnormal & severe pain. After they ran test they found that during her procedure they accidentally cut her Lg intestines! Her bowels had filled her body and they were forced to remove an ovary & appendix! She is in her 30s! She is in ICU & her kidneys are starting to shut down b/c they did not clean all the bowls out. She is in need of a lot a prayer due to the condition the Dr's at GCM have put her in! This is no joke and is very real to the family involved. Please research your dr's before attending this hospital! more

Poor place to visit 4/23/2008

Having been a patient several times over the last few years [ but not lately ] I was surprised when I visited their ER this past week.. I spent four [4] hours there, and received zero services. I never was seen by a DOCTOR !! Someone a nurse ? spoke with me, and another someone gave me a prescription. It was appreant that just maybe they are understaffed. It was also appearent that GMC has cut back on house- keeping staff, as they floor was littered with scraps of paper, rubber bands paperclips as well as appearing as if the floor had not been mopped nor buffed for a long period of time I hope that I never have the opportunity to visit GMC again. In closing I wonder if it a state law that a DOCTOR must see you when you visit an Emergancy Room in N.C. ?. Pros: none Cons: see review more

Excellent medical care 7/30/2007

Okay, obviously the hospital is not a five star hotel, but I gave it a five star rating anyway for several reasons. I wanted a particular surgeon I knew was exceptionally good at the surgery I needed, so I had to go to Oxford and have my surgery at Granville Medical Center. I hadn't been to Granville's hospital before and knew nothing about their staff and procedures. I didn't hear anything negative, but I was concerned. I'm sending a report so those who wonder - as I did, can know about my experience. It was small; definitely not like being at Duke or some other large hospital. I really wasn't sure what to expect. Then I found the procedures, that Granville Medical Center had in place for reviewing and verifying critical information, prior to surgery to be excellent . I was very pleased with the care I received and the knowledge of the staff. (they took NO chances with my care, making sure all was exactly as I needed it to be). I'm so glad I went there!! My surgeon, Dr. Winters, did a perfect job of putting me back together again, the staff was absolutely great and I didn't have a bad reaction (as I feared) to the medicine they decided on using. Everything went so well, and the staff even took care of my worried husband - keeping him informed. I received the best of care, and you can't get better than that. I highly recommend Granville Medical Center, their staff and Dr. Winters. Carmen Giggey more
