Butterfield Stage Motel

We stayed at this hotel because of the previous recommendation of 5 stars, but we were sorely disappointed and too tired after ten hours of driving to change our plans. This hotel WAS a flashback to the 1950s and the furniture was not a retro remake, it was the real thing. The worn, tattered, seedy rooms were spacious, but who cares about space when you don't even want to put your bare foot on the carpet. The shag carpet was matted and stained, the TV was tiny, and the recliners were, well something I didn't even want to put my bag on let alone try sitting in them. The bed did smell clean, but the mattress was very old and you could feel the springs. Cheap price and nice owners don't make up for the seedy feel. I have NO idea how anyone could give this five stars, if I could give zero I would. Pros: nice owners Cons: everything else more

They have spacious rooms and they are very clean. The comforters smelled and felt like fabric softner. The hotel managers are very sweet. They run the hotel as husband and wife and are the sweetes people. We have never had such great service for such a low price. more
