Not Just a Butcher Shop-It Rocks! 9/12/2010

Large, Busy friendly, clean place. Fun atmosphere - great choices on the fixin's bar -everything from beans (to die for!) to chili to 3 kinds of lettece & cheeses! We are fans of (high grade hand butchered) meat to grill at home, all food items on menu are hhigh quality. Bakery items may seem pricey at first but one bite and you realize they are worth twice the price from cakes to cookies. Never had a bad experience, never had a poor employee. You can dash in for one cookie or a large family gathering and are treated like you matter every time. We like to grab the glassed in porch when we can get it! Always happy place. more

Best Cakes in Longview 4/20/2009

I always get my sons birthday cakes from Butcher shop. They are the best in town. A little pricey but worth every penny. We pay extra for the cream cheese icing, it is to die for. Definitely makes the birthday complete.There hamburgers are great too. Almost as good as Juicy's. more

Chili 3/26/2008

I love the butcher shop hickory burger, and did love their chili which was mild, meaty, and just the right spice.\r But the other night I got some, and the chili was terrible, they changed their recipe, and the help just brushed off my comment about it looking burned, and being to oily, and spicy. They have two pots and both were the same.\r Hope they fix this. \r I usaully have 3 or 4 bowls, yes 3 or 4.\r IT WAS SO GOOD. more

It just doesn't cut it for me.... 11/19/2007

Having read various reviews on this restaurant I decided to visit; twice to be sure. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are friendly. However, in the hamburger world this is just another burger. Better than fast food but don't expect anything more than a 1/3lb burger cooked on a griddle. If it's grease you're after come and get it. As a plus, the condiment bar is extensive offering run of the mill pickle slices to sauteed onions. I'm up for argument but Longview has to offer a better burger. more

For a great hamburger, check out this place. They even have a special on Monday nights, buy one burger and get one free. As the name states, they have a butcher counter, as well as a bakery with delicious desserts to eat there, or take home for later. Our family always gets birthday cakes here. The price is reasonable and you can order the day before, sometimes even the morning of---if youre the forgetful type. In addition to burgers, they also have fried or grilled chicken sandwiches, baked potatoes, a salad bar, and even a breakfast menu. more

Sounds like a meat market, but... 10/28/2005

The Butcher Shop has the best bakery in the Longview/Kilgore area. I love their cakes and pies. At holiday times, it is so easy to get great holiday desserts without having to cook them. I also get pies all year long for birthday parties, parties or get togethers at work, etc. Their chocolate bottom pie is the best!!! more

The Butcher Shop does make steaks, but they maybe cook 2 a week. Most people go there for the best burgers around. Nice fixin's bar for both the burgers and the baked potatoes. Salad bar is small, but functional. The french fries are handcut and overly abundant servings are given. Beware, if 2 people order one order of fries, then it will be skimpy, but if both order, there are too many. If you see a bus in the parking lot, it will be crowded. Pros: Great burgers, fresh meat, specials Cons: getting there , watch for buses more

Name Can Be Slightly Misleading but... 5/22/2005

Okay now this place sounds like a place you only go to buy raw meat; but really it's more than food you can toss in your freezer. If you are in the mood for a real good turkey burger (and I'm talking ground turkey- juicy hearty patties) or any burger for that matter you've got to go to The Butcher Shop. On top of a great 'after the game/ before the game' meal there's great baked goods for your sweet tooth afterwards. You can even dine in and later take home a few pounds of your favorite ground meat. This place is a keeper... PROS: all around great place... CONS: only one I can find is in Longview more
