When I checked into my reserved room I was flabbergasted by the disgusting condition of this hotel. It was filthy with black mold on the bedding, cigarette butts in the air conditioning unit, something disgusting all over the walls, dirty carpet, shabby desk and chair. The bathroom sink top was a piece of plywood with a hole cut in for a sink that was barely hanging on. The toilet had no tank lid, it had an ill-fitting piece of plastic over it. The towel bar was attached to a 2x4 that was barely attached to wall. It was so nasty that we were concerned about touching anything. Add to this, the scary element of the characters hanging around in the parking lot and a door that you could see outside through when completely closed. Do not be deceived by the photos on any of the hotel booking sites, they must have been taken when the hotel was first built but it doesn't look like it has been cleaned or repaired since. If the room had been on the low price range end, I would have felt that you get what you pay for but I was charged $123.00 a night for this filthy dump. We chose to seek other accommodations since there was no way we were staying there. We would have stayed in the car first. When we expressed concerns to the manager, he offered to put us in another room, however friends that were traveling with us had reserved and equally disgusting room so we opted to chance finding something else even though it was graduation weekend for Duke University and things were busy. We were fortunate to find a very nice room just down the street at the Quality Inn for about the same price. When I asked for a refund, and said he would but could not because I made my reservations through Hotelplanner and not Days Inn. I now cringe every time I pass a Days Inn just thinking about this place.
