With credentials like Hubert Keller's--chef/owner of Fleur de Lys, guest chef of the Obama White House, and Top Chef Master--any restaurant he opens, even a Vegas-style burger palace on the 6th floor of Macy's, is going to get lot of attention. Like the Cheesecake Factory above it, Burger Bar has great views of Union Square, huge portions and high prices; in other words, it caters to tourists. The lineup of burgers, from Angus to "Kobe" to buffalo, start at about $10 with standard fixings, and can be customized with 35 topping options, or simply pimped out with sautéed foie gras and shaved truffles (the "Rossini," $60). There's a full bar of booze, and even a bar dedicated strictly to milkshakes, although the latter can be spiked with the former. Awesome as that is, the oversized, laminated menus make Burger Bar feel like a Denny's, while the inflated prices gouge like an airport restaurant's, a combo which undoubtedly proved a smash hit in Vegas, but San Francisco expects much more of Hubert Keller.
