I decided to finally try The Bunnery since it seems to be mentioned so often around town. I went for breakfast around nine in the middle of the week and, as I hear it usually is, it was slightly busy. The incredibly young-looking boys at the register played and talked to each other for several minutes while I stood, waiting to place my order. The seating arrangements were uncomfortable as a row of tiny tables were placed beside the over-sized booths, and you feel as though you are eating with the people in the booth, if you are unlucky enough to have to sit at the tables. They forgot my sausage and handed it to me with their bare hands, (which I understand is completely sanitary if they're using hand-sanitizer and are preparing food that way, but the presentation was terrible). They could have put it on a small plate before handing it to me. It was also rather flavorless. The tables sat dirty for a long while before anyone cleaned them, and drinks and silverware are self-serve, which would be fine if I weren't paying for a sit-down meal. I understand I could have visited on an off day when the boss was sick or they'd just hired several new people, but I haven't wanted to return since. I was left with the impression that maybe it was a local favorite because they are rather rude and therefore tourists are put off but locals know that's just the way they do business. Even if I'm "in the know" now, I'm no longer interested. The hours are also terrible, as they are closed by 5 nearly every day, and stop serving breakfast promptly at 11. It would probably be a great place to stop off and pick up pastries to go, as they are fresh baked every day, just don't plan to have a great dining experience there.
