Best

I take every one of my out of town guests here. The atmosphere is unique and the wait staff are hilarious! It can be a little campy, but I think that adds to the overall fabulou...

Worst

The ambiance is amusing, I'll admit that, but that's as nice as I can be. The food was horrible, much too rich in flavor to enjoy it beyond the fourth bite. The eccentric combin...

Bump & Grind's Petticooat Bruncheon is a can't miss in Denver 9/30/2006

Today I went with a friend to Bump and Grind. That is a coffee shop near my house. But is unlike any coffee shop that you will ever go to. It is located at 439 E. 17th Ave. Even the hours of operation are unusual. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Then B&G is only open from 7 am to 3:30 pm on Wednesdays through Friday. The best time to go is on Saturdays and Sundays when they are open from 10 am to 2 pm. The weekends is there Petticoat Bruncheon. You have to get there early to beat the rush. We got there 20 minutes before opening and there was already a queue. At the time that they opened up the doors there were 47 people in line by my count. We were seated by the hostess at a small round table for two. I could not decide what to order. Just the names of the dishes were too much for me to pass up so I ordered both the "Jew Vacationing in Mexico" and "The Jackoff Special". The "Jew Vacationing in Mexico" is a Quesadilla, with a rye bagel substituted for the tortilla, topped with smoked salmon, goat cheese spread, red onions, tomatoes, greens and topped off with Guacamole all for about $8. It was really good. I give it a solid "A". The Jackoff Special is a slice of sourdough bread topped with dilled Havarti, Pepperjack, and cheddar cheese. Along with the cheeses were a black olive spread, tomatos, and a garlic pesto sauce. I have to give the Jackoff Special and "A+". Man that was good. The tables all have Barbie dolls and very tacky colored cups for the water. The place is painted with neon horizontal stripes. In fact all of the decor is haphazard and done intentionally to look as unpolished as possible. Every just screams fun. They played songs from musicals such as "Hey Big Spender" from Sweet Charity to AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" But the best part of the Petticoat Bruncheon is the waiters. The are all dressed in drag. Our waiter was wearing red fishnet stockings and a very tight short purple dress. He is a poster child for how not to wear makeup. Where does someone find a long black wig that is so hilarious?. He also did an equally excellent job being in character as he does in dolling himself up. You just can't help but smile throughout the entire affair. The guys, and this may not be a coincidence, are all blessed with a full body of dark hair. It was a lot of fun going to B&G. In my book it is one of the can't miss things to do in Denver. more
