Let me begin by saying that I hate Jiffy Lube. I have never had a good experience there. They've replaced my oil filters incorrectly causing oil leaks, and their prices are outrageous (seriously? $75 for an oil change just because my car is ""high mileage""?)
After a number of unpleasant experiences at Jiffy Lube, I finally realized I would need to find a different place to get my oil changed. In the past I've had friends change my oil for me, but I hate doing that because they don't dispose of the used oil in any sort of environmentally friendly manner, so I prefer to visit a real car place.
I've driven by this service center hundreds of times, since I live only a few blocks away. Citysearch says it's name is Bull Tire & Service Center, but I don't think there is a sign outside that says that (at least not that I saw.) I stopped in a few days ago right after I left work, so I got there shortly after 5pm. I was told that they close at 5. I was sad that they closed so early, but hey, no big deal.
I returned this morning to get my oil changed. The process was a little bit slow, because there appeared to only be 2 guys doing car service, and one girl in the office. And there were a number of cars there, many of which appeared to be in for more extensive services than just a quick oil change.
The girl in the office who checked my car in was very nice and polite. There was a small waiting room that I sat in, with a TV to watch. I spent an hour waiting for my car to be complete.
I got my car back, and the car guy was very nice to me, and he remembered that I had been in a few days ago -- it always makes a good impression on me when someone remembers me. It just shows that they are friendly and actually interested in their customers, instead of just out there to make money.
I spent only $22 for the oil change, which was well worth it to me. I didn't mind waiting an hour for the service. If it had cost more I may have been a little bummed out about the wait, but for just over twenty dollars I really can't complain. I also appreciate the professional way I was treated, and the fact that they didn't try to upsell me a bunch of things I didn't need (another complaint of mine about Jiffy Lube -- they always try to make me buy additional services for my car that I don't need.)
I will definitely go back to Bull Tire in 3000 miles!
Pros: low price
Cons: took longer than I expected; hours not very convenient
