Never Eat Here! Worst Experience Ever! 5/16/2011

This honestly was the worst experience i have ever had at restaurant in my life! I got a dozen raw oyster, Horrible! Then on top of that, I guess the table next to me dine and dashed, and while I explained my case to the waiter the owner of the establishment called the cops on me. It was the most embarrassing and humiliating point in my life. I could not believe I had the cops called on me over some one else's meal. The bottom line is the food is horrible and the service is off the cart bad. Anyone who says this place is good or you should eat there is mentally insane and should rot in hell. The owner is a complete dick head and his staff seems to follow his lead. I have ate at many places and have never been treated like this. Never eat there unless you like poor service, poor food, and harassment by the staff and the police. more

Worst experience at a restaraunt i've ever had in my life. 4/23/2011

Today was Easter, and it was a BEAUTIFUL day here in my city. My friend & I decided to get away from the west side and take a trip to the beach. We decided to eat at Bukkets. First off, i ordered a frozen strawberry daquari along with my food. When i got it, to me it jus seemed like crushed up ice in juice, very low quality for $7.00. I literally took 1 sip and sent it back and asked for a beer instead. He took it bak then brought the beer, then returns with the daquari (which i had taken 1 sip out of my beer by this point) and told me that his manager wouldnt take the daquari off tha bill. So as i did not drink another sip of the beer either i asked for the manager.. she came out and was not in any way going to listen to anything i had to say. She told me i was paying for the daquari and now for the beer also. Within her speech she immediently started with she probably said sh*t and f**k about 10 times each. I have never been do disrespected for ABSOLUTELY NO REASON by someone that i didnt even in any way get rude with. I jus kept thinking i have to be dreaming.. was this seriously happening?? What kind of people are running this place?? I recorded the last half that shows them talkin to us and you can hear all of us talking. Its completely shocking to hear a restaraunt seriously talk to you like this! Bad buisness isnt even the right word for how we were treated. I am a head waitress at a restaraunt and there are times when people do try to get over on you.. but i am a normal person who has money to pay for what i want.. but i like quality.. and when i had to pay $16.00 out of my pocket for 1 sip of a daquri (that was not a correctly prepared daquari) and 1 sip out of a beer i was just speechless. She actually called the police! On a normal, civilized, paying customer that wasnt even acting out like the majority of people do nowadays, there was never a scene made or anything.. i was just speechless. If i could post the video i would. To be honest i will probably never take another step in that area code or to the beach ever again in my life. And i have lived in jacksonville my whole life, just never been to the southside much. But they were acting more ignorant then some of these customers i get in a restaraunt on the westside. Worst experience Ive ever had i my entire life out to eat. Perioud. more

ATM machine 11/1/2010

Beware of the ATM machine. I tried to get $60 and I waited like 10 minutes. At the end, I got a receipt with an amount withdrawn of $0. I did not get any money. Today, I was looking at my checking account online and I saw that $63 had been withdrawn from that ATM at Bukket's. I'm going through a dispute with my bank now. If that's how they have to make money, via rip offs, then that leaves a lot of room for integrity. The food is pretty lousy too! more

What a dump 10/9/2010

Don't waste your money or your time visiting this place. This place needs to be pressure washed daily just to try and get the scum off the walls and floors. Want Oysters drive to Cap's on the water... Forget this place. more

To; the owner/s of Bukkets 9/4/2010

Dear Owner/s. I have been coming to your restaurant for nearly 20 years. It has mostly been pleasurable. Your food and service is fine, it is what I would expect, I would not come to you for fine dining, just seafood, fried food, and cold beers. Heres the thing though, you need to pay more attention to the hygene and the looks of your wait staff. Believe me most are fine, but wow, whos doing the hiring there? Nothing ruins a good bukket of beers and a plate full of wings more that a sweaty ,untrimed (and Ill spare you the rest) waiter wiping sweat off their face with their t shirt right over our table (then handling our food) and looking like they partied till five am. They still got their 20% because im nice, but obvoiusly Bukkets has now become more of a evening drinking spot for me than bringing my family there for a weekend lunch. more

Bad oyster(s) 5/17/2010

We went two weeks ago on a weekday and had a great waiter, great service and the best oysters ever.. We went again last Sunday, and had to get up 3 or 4 times to remind our waitress about our food and drinks because she forgot about us. Also, the oysters didn't taste good at all and I was sick (really sick) for almost two days after. Horrible! To top it off, my husband had to go stand at the counter for about 10 minutes just to pay because the waitress never brought our bill. Soo, bad service and really bad oysters! Pros: Beach! Cons: Service/Food more

Poor and rude service, food not as ordered:((( 5/4/2010

Never seen a rude and unfriendly waiter like this. Talks over three tables to me to get the order. Then throws drinks on the table, left and came back three beers later to serve my food that was already cold and not as ordered. This place went down hill and after nearly 20 years as a loyal customer it feels good to say: Good-bye Bukket's. Won't be back! ...and please check your "Family-Bathroom" from time to time...at least once a month. It is a disaster, like your service people. Pros: there isn't any...the ocean, maybe... Cons: Everything else...just straight NASTY! more

<3 (: 2/1/2010

This place has a great setting and has great good. (: People who wrote bad reviews need to shut up and get over it. Look at those reviews, most of them are old. This place has had a new owner for about a year now and it slowly but surely is making progress. So, cut the new owners some slack.. it's their first time in this kind of venture. Anyways, they've just done some remodeling and the place looks much better. They did some painting and I'd love to spill all of the secrets but I can't. Let me just say, for the younger crowd, there's going to be more fun shortly. Well, you should go there and give it a shot and see what you think. (: Good luck, I'm sure it'll be great. (: Pros: Great Setting, Great Food more

DON'T GO HERE 8/25/2009

This place is a rip-off. They overcharge customers' credit cards and subsequently do nothing other than give those same customers the runaround. They also search women's purses/bags prior to entering the restaurant. What other restaurant does this??? more

Sukks 7/5/2009

I went to Bukkets for dinner after being at the beach, and was not impressed. It took the waitress 20 minutes to come to our table, and the only reason she did so was because we went up there and requested menus. My burger was horrible, it had char all over it! Note: clean grill before making new burger. Then I used a coupon from the entertainment book, and didn't realize that they cheated me by half of the coupon! It was for $9 and they only gave me $4.50 of a discount. Not worth the hassle of dining among drunk and obnoxious people. Pros: At the beach Cons: Poor service, bad food more

Great hangout 8/22/2007

Everyone is friendly. Wings, Blackened Fish Sandwich and Oysters Chicago are the best. Drinks are generous and the bartender Belen is hot! more

Go Squat in the bushes... 7/6/2007

Go Sqaut in the bushers...that is what they told me. I just moved to Jacksonville, and have frequented Bukketss three times the first week...but it will now be my last. I tried to enter the establishement to use the restroom after 8:00. Since I did not have a I.D. with me,(I am 50) they woudl not let me enter (however the had not problem taking my money earlier in the week...) I got in an argument with the doorman, and he called me a offensive name and told me to go squat in the bushes. He did this in front of about 20 customers. ' When I called the following day and spoke with the operations manager...he seemed to place more blame on me and did not seemed bothered by the incedent. (i got the idea he could care less). Anyway...I would never recomend the place to anyone unless you want cursed at and humiliated. Pros: Beach Cons: Rude employees, management doesn't care. more

Fun on a Friday at the Beach 8/20/2006

Relax ! Bukkets is known for lots of things, but attentive service is not one of them = you are at the beach so RELAX... the beer is cold, or keep it cold in a Bucket. If you are wanting a server at your beck'n call - go to applebit's... Bukkets usually have good musicians playing on the boardwalk (Seth / Saturday, Vicky / Thurs, and a couple of guys: Jack & Scotch on Friday) and lots of nice people enjoying the good food, cold drinks, and the beach! Pros: The Beach Cons: The homeless people hanging out at the Beach more

yuk 6/10/2003

i think that place is horrible!!!! they kick you out at 1:30, which is 15 minutes after they make last call!! It's always hot, the bartenders and dj's suck. i always recomend going to the ocean club than ever going back to bukket's or the attic more

waste of time and money 8/12/2002

Oyster bars are typically my favorite spots but this one needs better management. Great location and tons of potential but poor service, bad oysters, and a staff that could care less will always keep this place from being what it could be. My waiter at the oyster bar had obviously had more to drink than I had. The food is fair but the oysters were full of shell pieces from sloppy shucking. The beer was warm, and the music was way to loud. I think they are struggling with one BIG question....Do we want to be a oyster/sports bar or a night club? Trying to mix the two tegether keeps me and a lot of people I know away. Pros: happy hour specials Cons: bathrooms, service, cleanliness more

  • The Scene
Locals and tourists alike are drawn by ocean views and good vibes. Briny breezes blow through the large, open-air bar area and courtyard. In a separate room, pool tables, video games and TVs keep the young crowd busy. Down-to-sand decor is very casual, but shirts and footwear are required.

    The Booze
Shooters are the draw--fruity concoctions with names that would make a frat boy blush. The Skip-and-Go-Naked is popular, made with lots of booze and lots of juice. It's served in a pitcher-sized souvenir bucket and is recommended for parties of four.

    While You're There
See food? Try one of 20 different kinds of wings, like Smokey Mountain Gold (slathered in garlic butter and ground pepper) or Ragin' Cajun (think, hot!). They love buckets at Bukkets, and the best are filled with oysters, mussels or clams.
