Buck Bay Farm is a beautiful setting for a B&B. It is very secluded, and the smell of the lavender field is wonderful. Our stay at Buck Bay Farm started off great. All the guests were very friendly, our room was comfortable if a bit small, and the cookies tasted great after a long journey from Seattle. We slept very well, that is until about 6:30 am. This is when the owners' two children woke up and started stampeeding around. Apparently their room was right above ours, and the ceiling and walls are very thin. It sounded like 20 kids running around, not just two. This totally ruined the peaceful setting. It doesn't bother me that the owners have kids, but they should at least warn guests that the B&B is layed out in such a way that the kids room is right above the guest room. Our room was also situated so that it opened onto the communal kitchen, where breakfast is prepared and served in the morning. This was not mentioned on the web site or by the owners when we made our reservations. Even without the kids running around, the noise made in the kitchen would have woken us up. $125 is way to much to pay for a room where I can't even get a decent night's sleep. We did enjoy the breakfast. It was simple but tasty, and very filling. What really ruined the experience for us, however, was what happened after we returned to our room. It was our anniversary and we wanted to enjoy the time we had left before checkout. About an hour later, however, we got a knock at the door. We assumed it was 11:00 (check out time), so we gathered our things and left, only to discover it was not even 10:45. I thought this was incredibly rude. As we were leaving, I found out the owners were having a birthday party for their son which was to start at 11. I guess they wanted us out ASAP. They should have warned us of this, however I think it would have been much better to either not accept reservations for the night before, or plan the party to start later.
