Family style italian done boring 11/24/2007

I'm not a fan. Buca di Beppo was a frequent choice among my group for lunches at Citywalk and frankly I was never impressed. Dishes are served family-style and due to the portions were never anything great to speak of. The staff are friendly enough. Service is good. They handle large large groups like pros. But in the end, eating out is all about the food for me, and sad to say, the food always disappointed. more

This is not a romantic dinner restaraunt...however it is a blast to have a group of friends (4 or more). The environment is very loud and the decorations are loud and very italian. This is a fun place for birthdays, or just get togethers with old and new friends. I liked the pizza...prices are very reasonable. Good but not romantic 1/27/2004

I have been in a couple of locations(pasadena) and City walk. These restaurants are family style. Good value but loud. Good for large groups and to take kids. I would really recommend it, but I was shocked to see it as one of the top 10 most romantic places. Maybe ok for a fun date, but anyone that think this place is romantic has not clue of what romance is.... Pros: good value, large portions Cons: loud, crowded more

Overrated 1/12/2004

Don't go here for the food. Its nothing special whatsoever. Intersting of you like imitation tacky (as opposed to the probably fun atmosphere of the original restaurant) decor. Its noisy and the portions are massive and meant to be shared by a large group. If you are looking to feed a large crowd cheaply this is not a bad idea. But really the food is Olive Garden variety. The food is ordered in serving sizes for at least four. Its a complete waste of time for two people - you'll either take home crappy food or throw it away, and for what you spend there are certainly better places to eat. Great food - but loud and crowded 10/11/2003

Romantic? NO. But, if Buca is a great place to go with a group of friends to celebrate and occasion. Just know that during peak times, you'll be screaming to the people across the table from you - this place is popular and gets loud and very crowded. But the food is awesome (come hungry!) and you can't help but be in a good mood while you're there. One drawback: the hosts and hostesses feel the need to quote ridiculous wait times on Fri/Sat nights. 3 1/2 hours? Gimme a break - no need to tell me that just to make your restaraunt sound busy. The food is good and the portions are huge, but there's nothing romantic about Beppo unless you find that sitting with several hundred people qualifies--with one exception. Call well in advance for reservations and get the kitchen table, maximum six, but really seats four comfortably. That's a neat experience. I love Buca. It's a perfect family style restaurant. Super large servings of everything, and it's got a tight, cozy Italian atmosphere in such a large space. Great for large groups and parties. I love the Fruitti Di Mare with scrumptious linguini with scallops, clams, and mussels. The spaghetti w/meat sauce is great too and so is the Margherita pizza. NOT romantic at all! 7/9/2003

I went to the one in burbank with a date. There were kids and big groups of peope everywhere! It was noisy and we were seated in the middle of it all! Not seated in some quiet little nook...no they had us in the middle of a riot! Then when they sing happy birthday to someone, they want everyone to join in, and I don't like looking at my menu on a wall, above a table full of people! This is ok for a family or group place...but definately no quiet ambience, and NOT romantic! Pros: big portions, nice decor, friendly Cons: crowded, noisy, not romantic more
