Best

Normally I don't like huge portions but Buca Di Beppo dishes are meant to share family style, they have gluten-free, and a kids menu and...

Worst

We tried to make a reservation and were hung up on after being told there was no wait. We arrived and were told it would be 10 minutes...that turned into 25 minutes of waiting in...

Inconsistent - not worth the money 4/12/2009

I have taken my extended family to this location twice. The first time it was terrific; great service and food was way above average. The next trip was a nightmare. Service was beyond bad. I had to get up and find someone to get balsamic vinegar, drinking water, tea refills. We had to set dirty appetizer dishes on an unused chair to make room for the main course. The stuffed shells (my favorite from previous trip) tasted like they had the wrong proportion of ingredients -- like someone didn't follow the recipe). The meatballs were cool in the inside, and the veal parmagiana was dry and tasteless. The caprese salad was good, but we had to wait for almost 10 minutes for side plates and vinegar. By the time we started eating it, the main dishes started to arrive. The pizza wasn't even up to Buca standards -- it seemed to have about half the cheese that I have had at other Bucas. All in all a great disappointment. Finally, I have been in the food services business before, so I wrote a polite, but honest evaluation and quietly provided some feedback to the manager. Her response was to offer to be my personal hostess for a future visit. I almost laughed; I saw most of these issues as managerial, and would not likely give her another chance at ruining a meal for me and my friends. I certainly don't expect to be comp'd for an expensive meal like this one, but if it were me, I would have probably offered the customer a bottle of wire, a dessert or at the very least a gift card. This is one restaurant that won't get a return visit. more

PERFECT for a Rehearsal Dinner! 5/20/2006

We had our Rehearsal Dinner at the Lynnwood location - they reserved a room for us in the back. It was soo fun - it was casual, warm (emotionally), and loud - but, they even turned down the music in our "room" for a few minutes, so my friend and I could sing a song for my soon-to-be husband! We all shared their great Italian plates and had lots of wine...over-all, I would highly recommend it, if that sounds like an atmosphere that might fit your personalities. more

FUN and delicious! 5/2/2006

Yep, it's loud and fun - but that's what you go here for. Having grown up in a loud, boisterous Italian family - this is how we ARE and Bucca's does a great job of creating the Italian family atmosphere - not to mention they serve up a darn fine meal! Everything is served family style - and the dishes easily serve 4 to 5 people. Don't miss the garlic bread and fried raviolis and chicken cacciatore, served on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. more

LOUD! 5/2/2006

The food is good for family style Italian but it's very, very loud. They even have a place where you can sit in the kitchen and be part of the action the whole time. If that's your thing, you'll love it, but I'm more of a candelight dinner person. But if you have small kids, no one will ever hear them! more

The atmosphere is half the fun 4/11/2006

Ok, maybe not the *best* Italian food in the world, but this is a FUN place to have dinner. Yes, it's better for large groups - I suggest 6 or more, like a previous review mentioned. All dishes are served family style and are meant for large groups/families. I've taken my extended family here many times and we always have a good time. The atmosphere is loud and fun - they march you through the kitchen on the way to your table where everyone shouts "Ciao" to you. The garlic bread made in a pizza pan is out of this world. I also recommend the chicken cacciatore, served over garlic mashed potatoes and the fried ravioli. Wash down with a glass or two of the house chianti! more

Meh 4/7/2006

Buca de Beppo is a great restaurant for parties of 6 or more, otherwise, you're on overload. The food is meant for masses, not for parties of two. That is why the restaurant is so loud, bustling, and a little on the chaotic side. The food is decent, but beware of paying extreme amounts for just so-so salads. I'd suggest the pizzas and the chicken marsala, skipping the pasta in clam sauce which made my friend violently ill one evening after she noticed it tasted a bit "off" (and she's a chef). If you have a birthday party, the atmosphere is perfect. If you're looking for a family night out, skip it and head somewhere else. Also, their tomato sauce is odd... kind of sweet and tangy, so if you're into rustic hearty sauces, definitely go elsewhere. more

Lotsa Food, Lotsa Fun 3/18/2006

Great family style Italian dining can be found at Buca de Beppo. BIG dishes of yummy, yummy food can be found here. Don't listen to what they tell you. The "small" dishes can easily feed 4-5 people, if you are getting several of them. I love the family feel of this place. If you book WAY in advance and you have 6 or fewer people, there is this great booth in the middle of their kitchen. It is great fun to watch the kitchen and wait staff do their thing, and you get to see all the delectable dishes as they are walked past you. The wait staff will often stop to show you what they are carrying so you know what to order the next time around. Also, don't be surprised if they bring you over a complimentary appetizer or something to your table. Lots of fun and I highly recommend planning way in advance and trying out this kitchen table. more

Awful Italian (avoid at all cost) 5/24/2005

I had a horrible time at this restaurant. After a 30 minute wait to get a table, we had to wait another 30 till our server decided to come by. To be brief, the food is just ok and overpriced. They call it family style eating but I think the family would be better off cooking at home or going to Italy because the 12 hour flight would probably feel shorter and would be more cost effective, even with the exchange rate. more
