Don't Order Take Out & Expect to Get All of Your Food 3/26/2012

I recently went to this place to order take out for my family which I was taking to Daytona. My dad loves their ribs and they actually live in south GA, where they don't have Bubbalou's. We have visited the Bubbalou's on Kirkman many times and have had great experiences.\r \r When I called in to order the food, the lady was quite rude to me and talked to me like I was stupid. I asked for three sides of corn in addition to my meals, and she informed me each time that I asked for corn that there was an additional charge. She acted like it was a problem that I wanted corn. I was aware that there was an additional cost and I ordered another side for each meal. I was fine with paying more for the corn.\r \r I go to pick up the take out and the restaurant was nothing like the other Bubbalou's that I have been to. I is really old and dirty. There was no organization to the madness behind the counter. \r \r I get to the register and pay for the food. It was $40 and I left an $8.00 tip. (I was a waitress in college and I usually leave tips, unless I just have an awefull experience). In this case, I wanted to dismiss the fact that the lady was so rude. Maybe she had a bad morning --- not sure what her deal was.\r \r The nice man who gave me the food informed me that there was plastic ware in the bag. I asked him about hte corn and he said it was on the bottom (of a bag that was tightly wrapped in a plastic bag). I was foolish to actually BELIEVE him. I take the food, put it in a cooler to keep it hot and I make my way to Daytona.\r \r When I get there, we open all of the food, NO corn to be found. The corn that I payed extra for, was not even in there. I called and asked to speak with the manager about the situation. He did not care that the lady on the phone was unplessant, it was probably his wife. He said that I should give them another chance and come back by. He had the nerve to ask ""well, did you check to see if you got all of your order before you left?"" He then told me that I could bring my receipt back and get free piece corn the next time I stopped by and wanted me to come by that week. I told him I probably wouldn't come back by that location and he hung up on me. \r \r I was beside myself. Being in the Events and Hospitality industry for over 7 years, I would never hang up on a customer. The staff, management and the restaurant need a complete overhall. This Bubbalou's gives all of the other ones a bad name. more

Tired & Worn Out! 7/26/2011

There is only one word to describe my meal at Bubbalou more

Lousy ""BBQ"" - anyone who rates above a 1 is LYING! 3/7/2011

The absolute worst BBQ Ive had in years! I had the brisket and it was about 60% fat. Not just a little fat mixed in but literally bite after bite of JUST FAT! Absolutely disgusting! And every one of the BBQ sauces are barely average at best. Steer clear of this place if you want to keep what you eat down and not just throw your $$ away. more

Bubbalicious BBQ off Kirkman O-Town 11/23/2007

This is one thing a Chicago BBQ lover can agree with Kansas on. I recently went to the Kirkman Rd location and was reminded of why it had been a year since my only other visit ( I forgot)!\r I worked 7 years for Mikey D and owned a Jamaican restaurant for 5 yrs.\r Visit -Saturday afternoon Nov 07\r Service-""D"" When I ordered ""take out"" I had some misgivings, as I was used to ordering spare ribs ""by the slab"", I mistakenly thought that I had negotiated this and settled on baby back instead of my desired spare ribs. I could just understand through the West Indian Island accent of the order taker but I think he said something about getting 4 spare ribs if I should choose.\r I waited for appx 10-15 mins in spite of only one previously ordered guest before mine and a crew of 4 in the grill area.\r Cleanliness-""B"" what I saw of the restaurant was good.\r Quality-""D"" I guess if your expectations are not very high YOU might rate it higher and as I stated, I prefer spare ribs. The baby backs lacked flavor and not much flavor was added by the sauce. The meat was tender but I would think not ""rubbed"" or marinated with seasonings. The sides were filler for the small portion.\r Value-""D""- I think I got about 4-5 baby back ribs. At first I was dissappointed by only getting one small container of sauce, after I had requested ""Allotta Sauce"", but it proved to be enough sauce for the small portion.\r Ambiance""?"" The order before mine was an LPGA tour pro, forgot her name, I wanna forget the experience.\r Cecil's Texas Style BBQ**** is lots better (imho), larger portions, better sauce, better choice of sides. All the cops eat there.\r I'd still give my ""eye-teeth"" for ""Lem's"" or ""Carsons"" out of Chicago. Pros: Nice ""Wall of Fame"" photos Cons: Quality,Service and Value more

Pulled pork was a dissappointment 7/11/2006

I recently tried this restaurant on Lee Rd, after seeing it sometime ago highlighted on TV. It was truly a big dissappointment. I only tired the pulled pork sandwich. Won't be back. Pros: N/A Cons: BBQ pulled pork was unflavorful more

great food & service 7/13/2005

I've only been to the Bubbalou's in the Alafaya location. The service was great. The food was better than I expected - came w/texas toast, baked beans, cole slaw, & fries; & the baby back ribs practically fell off the bone - very tender. Sauces are good stuff. Great price for great food. Pulled pork is okay; I'd probably get that elsewhere. Ribs are great though. Pros: inexpensive, great ribs & sauces more

Kansas City Native Says NO WAY!!! 6/9/2005

I've walked out of Bubba's twice now. Once in Altamonte, the other near Kirkman. For starters, they MICROWAVE the BBQ!!!! Not only did I witness it with my own eyes, but they even told me they did. The result, the meat becomes rubbery and loses its smoke flavor. The sauce is runny without any true flavor or guts to keep it together. If you believe Bubbas has good BBQ, you obviously havent had real BBQ. In fact, Bubbas shouldnt even have BBQ on their sign, its a lie. Don't waste your money or your time. I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, home of the American Royal BBQ Competition, the largest in the world. I know good barbeque from bad. Bubbas isnt BBQ, plain and simple. Cons: It isn't BBQ, Microwave, Tastes like a boot more

SMOOOOKIN' 10/3/2002

Best hot sauces anywhere in the country. Great pulled pork is moist aawith that perfect smoky flavor. I have been to every big name BBQ joint in the county but my mouth always waters for some bubalous with killer sauce. more
