I have been eating at Bruno's since the 1960's. It is the best italian food I have ever eaten all over the US.

First and Last visit....... 7/17/2010

It was our anniversary, and we decided to try Bruno's. We had never eaten there before, but had experienced the food through various take out parties, and it was always good. The beginning was grreat, it was a Friday night, crowded house, but the hostess was friendly, and seated us promptly. We were immeadiately brought our water, and it was only a moment before the waitress took our drink orders. Not bad, I thought, prompt, even on a crowded night. We had ordered an appetizer with our drinks, and it was prompt in arrival also. At this point, promptness ceased to exist.. It seemed longer than normall for our waitress to return for our meal order, and I tried to overlook it since it was a full house. Then, our main course was a long time arriving, nearly 45 minutes after we had ordered, but it was hot. At this point my wifes water was empty, but no one seemed to notice. We began eating, and I finally gave my water to my wife since no one seemd concerned about her empty glass. No one ever came to ask about my tea either. My wife said her meal was good, but my calzone was the blandest tasting thing I've ever eaten. I did not enjoy it. When we had finished, we had a small portion of my wifes dinner we wanted to take home, so we sat with no water, and no tea, with our hands in our laps, and watched every hostess, bus person, and a couple of the cooks file by our table. No ne seemed concerned about our glasses or why we weren't eating. Our waitress hadn't been seen since the food was delivered. Finally, after sitting idle for 15 minutes, another person we had never seen came to our table and I expressed my displeasure. She offered us desert on the house (a bright moment), but we asked for our check so we could leave. When she came back with the check, she had ours and another tables too. I handed her my card, and she went to ring us out. Upon her return, I started to sign the recipet, and she stoped me, she had rung the other tables meal on my card and our meal on their card, so she had to go and run refunds, then rerun the transactions.....after two hours we finally got out of that place and have no intention of returning....Happy Anniversary Honey! Pros: Quick to get you in Cons: Slow to get you out more

A disaster from start to finish 8/1/2008

We went on a Friday night and the place was packed and we ended up waiting 35 minutes for a table (usually a good sign). When we sat down one of the water glasses was filthy and the bread plates were dirty (that should have been a sign). We started eating the flavorless bread they placed on the table until one of my friends found a nice long hair baked into the bread. We still had not complained, we just asked for a new glass wiped off the plates and tried another piece of bread. That was until we waited more than an HOUR for our food. When we asked for the tab for our drinks because we had given up and were leaving so we could go the movie we had already purchased tickets for the food started to show up. One plate at a time sloshed in front of us, mine almost went in my lap, delivered by the chef who in his defense did apologize. It took 10 minutes from the time the first plate showed up to the time the last plate appeared, there were 7 of us. We went ahead and asked for boxes and our tabs as soon as the food got there. That took another 15 minutes. The food was certainly not great., ok at best. The menu states a gratuity will be added to parties of more than 6, good thing the server did that, it was the only way she was getting a tip. Had she communicated with us and checked on us while this was happening we would have been a little more understanding but she was busy waiting on her friends at the table behind us. I thought since part of the party had left and we were going ahead and paying for their dinners putting them straight into boxes they may have offered to comp dessert or maybe our drinks, didn't happen we paid full price for everything including the meals for our friends that had left to get seats at the movies. Even though it is close and has a great history I will never return! more
