I will never deny that used bookstores, at least the ones in my neighborhood, do not have that clean, cozy, sit-down-and-read atmosphere that big retail stores like Barnes and Noble do.
But you have to consider that you’re paying for atmosphere at B&N, whereas at used bookstores you’re saving money instead of spending it on atmosphere. And after all, you spend most of your time reading at home, not at the bookstore itself.
