My name is Dale and I am a real estate investor.\r
I sold a house to Mr. Hodges in Rockingham, NC on February 22, 2010. He had Brown Termite & Pest Control Company from Rockingham, NC to do termite inspection for him. Mr. Hodges received the inspection stating there were termites in the upper left corner of the crawl space and the cost to treat the house would be $795.00. Since I (Dale) was responsible for paying for the treatment, I requested that Brown furnish me with pictures and a detail break down of the infested area, and they did. The house at one time had termites and was treated before any damages could be done, I was sure they had not come back that quickly therefore, I decided to get a second opinion. \r
I called a local company in Rockingham. I met with him at the property so I could get the results of the inspection. After his lengthy inspection, he stated they were dry tunnels but no active termites.\r
I asked him if he was sure and he said, “I scraped open the tunnel to see if there were any termites and there were none. I showed him the documentation including pictures of the infested area Brown Termite Company had given me. So, he went back under the house to look once again, he assured me\r
that I do not have termites. He said, “Two of the three pictures is fungi on the block foundation and the third picture was a dry tunnel.” I asked him if I did have termites, how much would it cost me to treat the house he said a little over $500.00 since the house is small (900 sq. Ft. aprox.) and the drilled holes are there from the previous treatment.\r
I am sure there have been other people that were told “ you have termites” and they accepted that and did not get a second opinion. I hope my experience with this company will help someone to avoid a costly job that doesn’t need to be done.\r
