Nashville's Best Cajun Cuisine 12/6/2011

I saw Bro's featured on DDD. It is definitely a ""dive"" located on Charlotte Pike near I 40. After seeing his show, I decided to give it a try. The front dining room is like a diner with a buffet line on one side. It looked to seat maybe 10-12 people. Venturing into the facility I saw some larger dining rooms. It has a smokehouse separate from the restaurant building. In there he not only smokes his delicious smokehouse hams, but also his homemade Cajun sausage. If you like bland food, this isn't some place you want to visit. However, if you like tru Cajun food this place is the way to go. His sausages (featured on DDD) are delicious and with just the right spice. I'll definitely go back and maybe even order some things at his on-liine store. Though it doesn't look like it from the street, there is plenty of parking just around the right side of the building. more

Nashville's Best Cajun Food - Hands Down! 1/22/2011

I was so impressed with the food quality and the authenticity of Bro's Cajun Cuisine - A stone's throw from HCA Corporate - a real wonderful place to eat some soul food - and comfort food - especially the gumbo soup, the jambalaya, and the crawfish etouffee....so nice to know food is made daily - and what a very nice owner - so personable with everyone - thank you for the experience - more

Bros sucks 1/21/2011

I've never had worse service in my life. The owner over charged me for food I didn't eat and then argued with me when I showed him the menu price. He was extremely rude and the food was mediocre at best. Not worth the hassle- don't bother! more

What was Triple D thinking? 10/26/2010

We recently visited Nashville and thought we'd give Bro's Cajun Cuisine (Triple D (Diners. Drive-Ins and Dives) recommended it) a try. We should have been tipped off by the salvation army decor, but you never know what they might be cooking up in the kitchen that might make it all worth while, so we stayed. I got catfish, someone else got the pulled pork sandwich and and another jambalaya. Just awful... nothing was salvation here... no great sides, nothing.... just awful. Maybe the stuffed pork chop was divine, but we didn't order that for lunch..... but I doubt it. What was Guy thinking?? We have been to Smoque in Chicago where we live and that is awesome... it is Triple D recommended, so not all is lost in the Triple D world, however, this was such a disappointment and we truly wondered if we were going to suffer tummy troubles afterwords.... Hope this is removed from the Triple D list, so no one else gets sucked in to spending good money for @&!!. more

Will have to be better next time 10/6/2010

Was so prepared to love this place . Dined here on 9-24-2010 about 7pm . The setting was fine and just what I had expected. We had Gumbo, red beans and rice and a catfish plate . My friends gumbo and beans and rice came 15-25 minutes before my catfish. No big deal but the beans and rice looked to have been sitting for some time . You really had to search for the smoked sausage in both dishes. more

Better than New Orleans 6/12/2010

I love Bro's! I've been eating here for almost 7 years. When my family comes to visit - this is the first place they want to go. Darrell and his family are just as sweet as they can be! The place is a total dive. Don't expect the royal treatment. But, DO expect the best jambalaya you've ever had! And his shrimp po-boys are a MUST. I actually prefer Bro's over Acme Oyster in New Orleans! Pros: Food! Food! Food! more

This is the REAL DEAL 11/11/2009

Here's the deal...if you're looking for REAL Cajun food, this is the place! How do I know? I'm a real Cajun girl from Cajun country. This food is better than most restaurants back home! Nothing fancy here, but you'll find delicious, authentic Cajun food. If you're looking for the real deal, you gotta go! Pros: Authentic Cajun Food Cons: Nothing Fancy more

Bad customer service, dirty and $$$ 9/5/2008

Bro's Cajun Cuisine, huh. What a joke. First off, the wait staff was terrible, never seated us, never offered us menus, got the order wrong, and reminded us to leave a tip! The food was very expensive for what you got. $10 for a Po Boy with 5 shrimp is insane. The cajun was not very cajun, just overpriced and in a filthy environment. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Cons: very poor service, food was less than average, filthy, filthy filthy more

Dirty and expensive 2/27/2008

I went here with my mom and brother hoping for some yummy cajun food. It may have been the worst meal I've ever had in my six years of living in Nashville. The service was slow and unfriendly, the food wasn't particularly appetizing, and the prices were totally unreasonable. I agree with the other poster that this place would probably have trouble passing inspection. No ambiance, nothing to like about the place. more

Great cajun food 1/25/2008

I love the cajun catfish and the red beans and rice are a must. The ownere is always a hoot and I always stop by when I am in the area. more

AVOID THIS PLACE - PERIOD. 9/27/2007

Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

Great food 1/29/2007

This place is great, it's not easy to find good New Orleans food.I'm from the West Bank in New Orleans and I'm so glad this place is around, they should tear down all the Mc Donalds and put up a BRO'S in place of them. Pros: Great NewOrleans food Cons: I have to drive from bellevue to get there,HA! more

Best Cajun In Town 7/25/2006

I've followed this place since I was a kid living in Sylvan Park. It's a bit of a dive but the food is great, the portions are very american and the service is good. It isn't open on the weekends which is the only bad thing. Pros: food, price, portions Cons: not open on weekends more

Very Good Cajun Food 6/7/2006

If you like REAL Cajun food, go to Bro's. The place is a bit of a dive but the food is very good. In fact, I wish I had some right now! Pros: Good Food Cons: Limited Space more

Fantastic Cajun!! 11/23/2005

I love this place. I have been frequenting it for close to 10 years. It has moved three times in that time period, and I have hunted it down each time. Pros: Taste, Authenticity, Value more

A MUST! 1/14/2004

I've been going to Bro's since they were on Murphy road, the location has changed but the food is still the greatest! The catfish is out of this world, and the gumbo is great. The veggies are always excellent, never a bad choice - my favorites are the field peas with onions and the turnip greens. This ""secret"" is on the verge of expoliding, so grab a plate and take a friend to knock their socks off. Pros: Food, Pric, Quality Cons: Location, Seating more

AUTHENTIC Cajun Food! 3/4/2003

My company had it catered in so I have never been to the restaurant, but if the restaurant is anything like the food....WOW! If you just haven't been able to find that New Orleans flavor anywhere else, Bro's is the place! Spicy and full of Cajun/Creole flavor! GREAT! Pros: Inexpensive, Great Jambalaya more

Wish It Was A Secret! 1/28/2003

Wow. Great food. Perfect atmosphere. More for your money at this diner, folks. The cornbread was out of this world (just like grandma used to make), and it only got better from there. The staff is friendly and extremely efficient -- they have to be to handle a crowd that, at peak lunch hour, may have been waiting 30 minutes to get a table! But it is MORE than worth the wait... and they take checkcards! You've got to try this place... it's the kind of thing you WISH was a secret... but there's enough to share! Pros: Flavor, Hard Working Staff, Inexpensive Cons: Wait For Table, Broken Jukebox? more
