During the most recent snow storm (12-18 inches), Management chose to threaten their hourly employees with ""getting fired"" if they did not show up to work. Some depend on our bus system, cab system, or family to get them to and from work (Note: the city bus sytem could not & did not run on Saturday and had a three hour delay run on Monday) Maintenance personnel could not or would not make some pick ups. One worker started out hours before the usual time and was stuck in the snow for more than four hours (arrived to work late, of couse) A few others risked their lives and other family members lives (children included because all daycares were closed or homes were without power). What happened to the mission. Should a christian organization with a missioin such as Brooks Howell ---be more flexible, family friendly, considerate, forgiving and understanding? What about our sisters and brothers should we....? treat others as you would want to be treated. (Supervisors are salary it doesn't matter if they work 40 hrs or 100 hrs their pay remains the same) During these economic hard times why are workers told ""you can not use your PTO to cover your loss time"" --- Oh yeah, Because according to policy it is left to the descretion of the supervior. What a disappoint of a supervisor. Dedicated employees risked it ALL to keep the business flowing. It would not be a loss of income to the company as a matter of fact it would remove some liability from your books (less carryover)
Pros: It's a job
Cons: Not family oreinted?
