My due date is 6/12/12, so I will write an update after I have my baby, but my experience with the BBC has been a positive one. It is an intimate setting with friendly midwives who care about you and your future baby. Plus, their facilities are very clean.
I'm taking off a star because their appointments tend to run about 25-35 minutes behind schedule, but, since I'm used to waiting for long periods of time at any doctor's office, this seems fairly standard.
I'm looking forward to a natural childbirth in the tub, though be warned, (as I was), that if your baby is over 8 lbs, you cannot do a water birth.
They accept most insurances, though my Oxford Liberty plan was fairly limited and I still ended up paying quite a chunk of change out-of-pocket to avoid having to give birth in a hospital. They said Oxford has been a pain for the past few years and they don't pay out, so unfortunately, the patient ends up paying for that discrepancy.
They have you attend a mandatory ""complications meeting"" between 34-37 weeks that goes over the possibility of having to be transferred to the nearest hospital, Maimonides, if your labor is not progressing or there are some unforeseen circumstances that arise that it would be in your best interest to be in a more traditional medical setting. The hospital is 10 blocks away, so it's good to know that that's the ""back-up plan"" if things were to go south.
