Broadway Club

Ive always liked broadway. Havent been in a while though. Im trying to celebrate my 32nd birthday and i could never get nobody on that phone. Overall if you are in the norfolk area and looking for a grown and sexy type of night club, chck out broadyway, but get there early so you can have a decent place to park. My sister and I were in Town for the 2009 Afram Festival,Labor Day weekend. I read the reviews on this night club before we headed out...Most were negative,so we decided to go and form our own opinion. The club needs a better ventilation system. We were smelling like chicken grease when we left...Parking was aslo an issue and the drinks were pricey . Nice Mature Crowd, Good Music and Good Drinks. Friday and Saturday are there Best Nights for me. \r \r \r Easy to Find. In town for Labor Day Weekend. Major Oldies Night on Sunday, w/ Major Swing/Hand dancing and Line Dance. They do mix in top forty, and after midnight all top 40. I heard the announcement on the radio that the Broadway had Karaoke. I stopped by on Thurday evening and was surprise I had to pay but I went in anyway. I must say I was pleasently surprised. There was a nice crowd, and the Karaoke Hostess was very friendly and really involved the audience. She took request songs for the audience member that did not want to sing. She did a great job singing Etta James and Gladys Knight songs. It was more like a nice concert with all the good singers. The karaoke group was two ladies and they really put on a show. While the younger lady song the more up to date songs, the older lady song the classic older songs. I will go again and take some friends. Finally something good is at the Broadway. YOU ARE SO RIGHT. THEY NEED TO SHUT THIS OLD CLUB DOWN. THEY REMODELED BUT WHAT A WASTE. I AM FROM HAMPTON AND ME AND MY 3 FRIENDS DROVE ALL THE WAY TO THIS CLUB FOR NOTHING. I am a 38 yr old woman and looking for a place to go and hang out that is not too old or too young... I have been going to the broadway on and off for a few years now... I am married and I can go to the Broadway with my husband and have a great time or hang out with the girls and have a great time. The Atmosphere is nice for our age group. It's classy but not stuck up, They play up to date music as well as some oldies.. it's a nice mix... The food has always been good when i have gone there. And the staff has always been nice. It's a night club so you will get what you are looking for... Music, Drinks,Food and Fun... I can even go there by myself and have a good time. I have never felt uncomfortable or out of place. Someone will make you feel welcome whether it's the other patrons or the staff.... Overall i recommend it as one of the best places to go in Virginia for 30 and up. My sister and I went to the Broadway on 9/19/08 to celebrate my birthday. A friend in Maryland said that he had a great time when he went. He was SOOOO right. I don't know if I had more fun in the Jazz Club or the R&B Club. I kept going from side to side. The patrons were friendly and came to party and that we did. When you go to Norfolk go to Broadway you will not be disappointed. Pros: ample parking, plenty of seating and room for dancing more

I actually enjoyed this place. I'm born and raised here, but for the past 13 years I been ""out-of-the-area"". Everytime I come home I want to go to a club with a mature crowd nice atmosphere etc... I've finally found that spot. This place is perfect for the 30+ crowd and it keeps its ""integrity"" with the music. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and you do not have any non-sense there. At least not when i'm in town and go out. I would definitely recommend this club to my friends/associates. It's also great that they serve food there (just need a better way of getting it to the customers and cover the food up when walking through the crowd. The DJ's are great on both sides as well as the bartenders. I was a little scared @ first because from the outside the place looked a little seedy. We paid to get in... No ID for either of us was asked for??/. The music was great!!! They played a great selection. Visually the club was nice. The bathrooms were decent for that large a club. Seating in side the club was at a premium there were a lot of folks just standing around. \r Plus they sold food ...but the kitchen seemed to be on the exact opposite of the club so that meant the servers had to walk across the dance floor and in between people dancing or standing to bring a plate of fish or chicken wings to the customers.Ewwww\r One of the servers at our table didn't know any of the prices for the drinks but she did say it was only her 4th day working. At times we waited long for drinks. I thought the drinks were a little expensive considering how much we paid to get in.. but they were tasty.The crowd was an older crowd and most of the men were dressed nicely .Once we were being put out (closing time) all of us were shuffled to the back door which meant that there were a few of our party that had to walk in the alley to get to the front of the club where we parked. as with most clubs that put the folks out in one area there was a lot of congregating and the bouncers were doing their best to send everyone home. \r Over all the group I was with had a great time. I would definitely go back again if I was to visit that side of town again. I first went to Broadway 2001. I dreamed about this club everyday until I had a chance to go back last weekend. Broadway is the BOMB. The atmosphere is great, the music is great, and this is a great place to get your flirt on! If you want to have a good time (married or single) check this place out. Whenever I'm in town, I ask friends to meet me at the Broadway, especially on Thurs when the Good Life Band is playing and we had a more relaxed atmosphere to talk and enjoy something to eat. We always end up coming back on the week-end when the crowd is thicker and we can meet and mingle with people. Pros: Food, Variety more

I was most impressed at the fact that there were two different sides to the Club with two different atmospheres. A lot of Clubs that cater to the over 25 crowd have nothing for the young 25 year old or to the 21+ who may accompane the over 25 group. The Broadway has entertainment for everyone. Pros: Chicken Wings, reasonable cover, outside security more
