Brinks takes the cake on thinking of the customer first. If you care at all about honesty and integrity, steer clear of this company. I bought a new house in 2005 that came pre-wired with a Brinks security system, so I signed up for the $25.99/m plan - and there in lies my mistake. I did not see, nor was I informed verbally, that there, in the ultra fine print in light grey text on the back of their yellow form, was my commitment to a 3-year term, with no provision for early termination. This I only realized when I called to cancel. I then learned I had to pay the contract in full -- the whole $900 whether I lived at the residence or not. They then sold me on the idea of moving the service to my new residence. Unfortunately, it would cost an additional $1,200 to install the new system, which I promptly declined. They then promptly sent me a new bill requesting payment in full for the remaining term, due "upon receipt" because that was what is required when you cancel early. So now, I am stuck paying for someone elses security system for the next 18 months. Thanks Brinks - you're a peach. Please - if you value customer service at all, do not choose Brinks as your security provider.
Pros: Until I tried to terminate, the service seemed adequate
Cons: If you don't want to get stuck paying for $900 of service you can't use, don't go w/Brinks
