I intended to change to this dentist because my previous dentist left the state. My previous dentist told me one of my teeth was developing a crack, and would likely need a crown at some point in the future if the crack progressed (was superficial at that point)...and to keep an eye on it. I didn't tell Bright Now this, assuming they would find it as well in the X-rays/exam.
Instead, they found 3 teeth that they believed should be crowned, none of which was the one my previous dentist had been keeping an eye on. Ok, well it had been a while since my last visit so perhaps something had happened to cause damage or maybe my last dentist missed something. What gave me pause, and thank god it did, was when they came to me with how much all of this would cost. The cost per crown was 4 times what my previous dentist told me to expect...and he was pre-insurance while by this point I had insurance through my work. The good news, according to Bright Now as that they could get started today!
Well, I declined starting that day. When I got home, I called Comfort Dental and Southlands Smiles and asked what a typical crown cost was...without insurance. It was a quarter what Bright Now was saying my out of pocket would be...with insurance.
I then booked a visit to Southland Smiles. They identified the same tooth my previous dentist had been watching and not only was it simple and painless....my out of pocket after insurance was pennies on the dollar compared to what Bright Now was going to charge. Please, do yourself a favor and really check their pricing before agreeing to anything.
Three weeks later I get a call from the Dentist at Bright now. She says she is concerned about my three teeth, as they really need crowns and I could end up losing them if I didn't move forward quickly. She said the root planing she was suggesting would save countless other teeth. I told her what my new dentist had found and the VAST difference in not only procedures recommended but cost of each of them. She had nothing to say at that point and ended the conversation.
I would do my own dental work with a screwdriver before I ventured back into this business.
Pros: New building.
Cons: pricing structure is far outside of the norm
