We were referred to this place by several people, and since then have found out that at least 4 of our friends/relatives have gone there! To begin with, the teacher, Gail, is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Every lesson begins with asking you how the week went with your dog, and what problems you had, to help you handle them. What really impressed me, was that--despite all the classes she teaches--she focuses on YOU and YOUR dog; she remembers from week to week YOUR situation, and tries very hard to remember the names of the members of YOUR family that you bring along. She is not just getting her two hours of teaching done so she can earn some money. She takes this seriously! She is DETERMINED to make your dog behave!! Secondly, we had a rambunctious German Shepherd puppy. He has learned a tremendous amount! She kept trying things with him until we were able to control him, and the change in him from the beginning to the end was OUTSTANDING! Now that he's settled down, we are seeing how intelligent and eager-to-please he is. The class uses a tough-love approach. I have not been to any other dog training classes, but I'm sure there are other, softer approaches. But, if you are determined to have a well-behaved and controlled dog and are not afraid of being firm, then this class is for you and your dog! more

I was referred to Briarwood by a co-worker who had great things to say about the training her dog received.\r We had a 9 month old border collie (OMG!) that was not responding to 4-H training and we were pretty inexperienced with the breed. After attending just a couple of the beginning classes, we were seeing great improvements... mostly because we learned what we were doing wrong and how to correct it. \r We now go to advanced classes at Briarwood, and our dog loves agility and going to class with his ""friends"". \r Every class, Gail asks everyone individually how things are going and if there are any new or different concerns with the dog. The dynamics of the class setting are great for the dog to learn behaviors in a setting with distractions (other dogs and people), and socialization.\r Highly recommended!!!!!!!!\r more
