The Ommegang brewery (the word "ommegang" seems to mean "pub crawl" in Belgium) is a nice little brewery with a few great beer choices. Unlike some of the bigger breweries, the visit of the premises is free, but since the brewery is indeed quite small, it does not last all that long, either. The tour guides are local, and seem to be more
concerned about getting all the guests to the tastings, which is what most of us came there for anyway. Some of the beers are excellent (notably Rare Vos, and their summer white brew), while some are just plain good. The specialty of Ommegang is that they give their yeast to a nearby farmer, who produces some exquisite cheeses, also for sale in the store.
However, to enjoy the brewery, you first have to get there. I assume that most people do what I did and go to the brewery after visiting Cooperstown, and the signs from that direction are misleading, confusing, or non-existent, I missed the direction twice and was so unsure at one point that I went back on the same road, just to have to turn around
again. The signs seem to be better coming from the other direction.
