HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT Green Chile~ Oh Yeah! 8/11/2011

This place has some of the HOTTEST green chile I have ever had! I have to get the half and half (half mild half HOT...but it's still HOT). My husband gets the hot and I've looked over at him and he is sweating! (ha) The queso is great. It's their green chile with a plop of cheese. The chips are stale though. The chile relleno is good and the tamales are ok. The margaritas are too sweet but it is fun to sit at the bar. Sometimes it smells kind of sour though. My husband says ""Oh that's just ""bar smell"". The bartenders are a hoot! more

It Sucked 5/25/2011

I ordered out today, Chili Relleno and Beef Burrito and after I ate my Relleno, my stomach started gurgling and had to rush to the restroom. We ordered deluxe lunches which looked like they had been reheated in a microwave oven. The lettuce was wilted and soggy. It looked as if someone previously ordered it but then cancelled the order only to put aside for the next order. It was noon and very busy, I thought the meal would take at least 15 minutes to cook, but by the looks of it and time spent waiting (5 min) I feel it was thrown together or already made up. I don't know what happened to this place, but it really sucked. I should have went with my gut feeling and went to Santiago's instead. VERY DISAPPOINTED and will never go there again! more

Not good, not good all. 10/2/2009

We had dinner here tonight and there was nothing good about it. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

WAS MUCH BETTER BEFORE BB3 AND BB4 12/4/2008

AS SOMEONE FROM THE EAST COAST, WHO DOES NOT KNOW MEXICAN FOOD FROM A HOLE IN THE WALL, BREWERY BAR IS THE BEST! GREEN CHILE TO DIE FOR! I LOVE IT! WE DON'T HAVE ANYTHING EVENCLOSE IN CT. BUT, AFTER GOING THERE FOR MANY YEARS, WAY BEFORE 3 AND 4 CAME AROUND, I DO HAVE TO SAY THAT THE PORTIONS ARE GETTING KINDA SKIMPY. I NEVER HAVE THAT WONDERFUL POOL OF EXTRA GREEN CHILE WHEN I AM DONE EATING, THAT I JUST HAVE TO GET ANOTHER TORTILLA TO MOP IT ALL UP! SEEMS TO ME, WHEN THE WHOLE COMPUTER THING CAME AROUND AT BB2, THINGS JUST GOT A LITTLE MORE CORPORATE. WE STILL LOVE YOU BB2, STAFF, FOOD, ETC. WE HAVE OUR THOUGHTS ON WHY THE BIG CHANGE!!! Pros: MUCH O FUN AND KINDA DIVEY! WE LOVE THAT!!! Cons: GO BACK TO THE WAY THINGS WERE BEFORE BB3 AND BB4!!! more

Best Green Chili, hands down 8/30/2008

Whether you like at Hot or mild, the green chili is the best in Denver. Great chips and salsa and Margaritas. The fiesta chicken salad (barely a salad, smothered in Green chili) is one of our favorites. The place has the atmosphere of an outdated sports bar but it has a good energy inside and service is fast and friendly. This is a classic dive bar but with great Mexican food. Pros: Green chili, margs, chips and salsa. Cheap too. Cons: outdated decor, dark inside more

Expensive margaritas 2/4/2008

The Brewery Bar II was a great place to have our going away party of 15 and a baby. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great and decently priced. But, we made the mistake of not asking what the price before ordering 5 pitchers of margs. Normally with that many people it's always a better deal to do it that way. When we received our bill of $360, $180 was just for the margaritas. It was $36 for each pitcher! yikes. The waitress said they were so expensive because they're so good, but we all agreed that they are not THAT good. If your looking for some decent Mexican food and plan to go out early (they literally kick you out at 9pm on Saturday nights) then I recommend this place. Their margaritas are not worth the price. Pros: good food Cons: expensive margs and they close to early more

Something Seems Off Here 12/14/2007

This used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in town -- it seemed you could put that famous green chile on just about anything and it would tast great. The last few times I have been to Brewery Bar II, however, they have been off their game. The chile no longer knocks my sox off -- it's just not as hot or tasty anymore. One pitcher of supposedly top-shelve margaritas was so bad, we had to send it back. And, is it just me or have the burritos been shrinking lately? I had to double check to make sure they had not wrapped my burrito in a taco-size tortilla -- I mean this thing was WAY smaller than I remember! What's up BBII? I still love your funky vibe, but a girl's gotta eat, too! Pros: Fun, funky atmosphere; friendly service Cons: Food and drink quality seem to be going downhill; ""out of the bag"" chips more

Not sure 7/5/2007

I visited the park meadows location so I will move my review over to that one. The menus look the same online so I bet they are similar. Pros: Margaritas Cons: Rellenos, chips, Green chili, prices more

whats all the hype? 2/4/2007

After hearing from many people, reading several mags, I finaly went to Brewery bar2 home of the best chili in town. I beg to differ! I ordered a smothered burrito with the hottest chili they had. When my food arrived it looked like watery tomato soup with very little green chilis in it. Spicy? no! I could get more heat from a Taco Bell hot sauce packet. The only thing good about the ""green chili"" was it had good chunks of pork. If you want real green chili +hot Santiagos(various Denver locations) is still the place to beat. Sorry BB2. Pros: good cold beer, friendly people Cons: parking, a little pricy for what you get more

Not real Mexican...but still good 11/29/2006

What a place to hang out and have a beer with no loud music and good food. It's not the best I have ever had but I ate it all. Pros: great place to have a beer Cons: parking is bad more

Best salsa, guac and chile rellenos in town 1/10/2006

I know quite a few people that think their standard Mexican fare is decent and I agree. But I think the reason to come here is because they have the best salsa, guac, rellenos and like most Mexican food lovers, their green chile is the tastiest ever...amazing. And their beers are big and cheap. Oh yeah, if you think this place is expensive, your next obvious choice is Taco Bell. The Brewery Bar is a great value, has great staff and is a super, old-school Denver, no frills atmosphere. more

You want hot? 11/16/2005

Chew on a Jalapeno, because this is not green chile, it reminds me of chicken broth with corn starch and blended jalapenos, at least its a shade of green, where's the chile? And the prices, ala-carte will break your bank, and the food is not what I expected. But have a few drinks (six to be exact) and anything tastes good. This place is a ""bar"" that serves food, I like to eat at a restaurant that serves drinks. Wake up Denver, your taste buds are drunk! Pros: Pick-up joint, Take your girlfiend Cons: Jalapeno Chile?, So called Tex-Mex, Not you're wife more

THE place to Tex-Mex! 9/27/2004

Brewery Bar II still has the BEST guacamole anywhere. Their green chili continues to win awards, and they are well deserved. Depending on the day, it may be hotter or milder, but never disappointing. The chili rellenos are also fantastic Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, Friendly Service more

The best Green Chili in town!!! 3/7/2004

Their green chili is so good - I paid 50 bucks to have it shipped out to me in Wisconsin for the Super Bowl!!! Keep it coming guys!!! Pros: Bartenders are great!, Inexpensive food, Margaritas A++++ more

The Best Tex/Mex in Denver 7/21/2003

Okay- it's not the ambiance. Leave the kids at home. It's got GREAT MEXICAN FOOD. Deep Fried Chile Renios stuffed with Cheese- how about adding crab Abe? I'll pay the price. I travel from Seattle to eat here. Don't go after 10pm- the neighborhood is still rough. Pros: Great Salsa, Everythinghomemade, No pre-portions.... Cons: Parking sucks more

Hottest ""Green"" in Town 2/1/2003

A fixture for quite a number of years in Denver, this is an easily accessible restaurant in the downtown area (get there by 11:30 for lunch) with the tastiest and HOTTEST green chile in town. Bob, Jamie and Dave are ""the best"" behind the bar.... more

THE BEST -- BAR NONE 12/6/2002

They have the absolute best chili relleno around. The guac is to die for; the salsa beats no one; the chili -- oh chihuahua! Not to mention the margies. Pros: cute bartender (Jimi), great atmospher, excellent food Cons: tight parking more

Three Eighty Threes 11/29/2002

There is something money can't buy... Then there is the BBII. Chili relleno special, smothered green, two tortillas, tiny, your friends/family...heaven. Pros: One of a kind, Abe is responsible, no doubt, the best more

Heard them mention this place on channel 8/26/2002

Channel 4 a.m. news talked about how good the food was, so we ate there last night. Man they were right on, the best mexican food I have ever eaten. This place is a 10! more
