Brewer's Alley has outstanding India Pale Ale, Kolsh, and Oatmeal Stout brewed on premises, and their happy hours provide excellent appetizers and the best price for the best pint I've seen this side of the Atlantic.
For the cuisine, stick to the straightforward -- the good pizzas from the wood-fire oven, the "knife & fork" (yup, you really can't eat it by hand, though that's mostly because of the thickness of the bun) burger, the cedar-planked salmon. The specials, and too many of the regular dishes on the menu, are too clogged with modifiers, things that seem vaguely like "a cilantro-and-black-bean-encrusted Chilean sea bass filet, served over a bed of basil and truffle with tangerine-infused cous-cous, with mango vanilla beurre blanc and a coconut salsa."
I made that dish up, but you get the idea: this is a place that doesn't know when to quit, and the culinary experiements are far more experimental than they are well-executed or satisfying. The bottom line is that Brewer's Alley is a wonderful pub with excellent pub grub. Order something that seems more than that, and you're bound to be disappointed; stick to the pub fare, and you're bound to be both impressed and pleased.
