i love this place, they have a great outdoor patio (not dog friendly but that's not their fault) and an awesome bar area, plus the restaurant. In the summer they have a Blueberry ...

Brewers Alley has been on a downhill slide over the past few years. Food has become less than so, so and...

Bar Food not Great Food 10/23/2009

THe menu is great here - lots of choices and they read well. The problem is that the reading is better than the eating. The Thai salad has very little Asian flavor, the lobster roll was heavy on may and light on lobster. They do a good job with burgers and beer, though. more

Fun atmosphere and good beer... 4/6/2006

are the hallmarks of this brewpub centrally located in downtown Frederick, MD. Their happy hour is quite lively, and you can get a great site brewed beer and delicious appetizer for a decent price. Their menu is extensive and well rounded, from tasty pizzas baked in a wood fired oven to seafood to steak; they have something to satisfy everyone's taste and it comes at a reasonable price. Great for the whole family! more

Excellent brewpub, decent restaurant 8/22/2005

Brewer's Alley has outstanding India Pale Ale, Kolsh, and Oatmeal Stout brewed on premises, and their happy hours provide excellent appetizers and the best price for the best pint I've seen this side of the Atlantic. For the cuisine, stick to the straightforward -- the good pizzas from the wood-fire oven, the "knife & fork" (yup, you really can't eat it by hand, though that's mostly because of the thickness of the bun) burger, the cedar-planked salmon. The specials, and too many of the regular dishes on the menu, are too clogged with modifiers, things that seem vaguely like "a cilantro-and-black-bean-encrusted Chilean sea bass filet, served over a bed of basil and truffle with tangerine-infused cous-cous, with mango vanilla beurre blanc and a coconut salsa." I made that dish up, but you get the idea: this is a place that doesn't know when to quit, and the culinary experiements are far more experimental than they are well-executed or satisfying. The bottom line is that Brewer's Alley is a wonderful pub with excellent pub grub. Order something that seems more than that, and you're bound to be disappointed; stick to the pub fare, and you're bound to be both impressed and pleased. more
