Brewer, Michael, Md - Inverness Family Medicine

I'm happy with Dr. Brewer as a physician but the office staff is either overworked or doesn't care. I've had to call three times to request a refill of a standard medication that they've prescribed me for years (non-narcotic). I left messages and talked to office staff twice. My wife has had the same experience with her allergy medication. I realize that the nurses and receptionists have a tough job, but that is no excuse to ignore patient requests. more

I have been going to Dr. Brewer for 20 years. He is a terrific doctor!!! I love the nurses there, too! If you develop a relationship with the docs there you will not want to go anywhere else. Any negative comments must be from patients who have only been once. Any office can have an off day, but they are few and far between, there. My experience has always been very good. more

The doctors are awesome. But don't go here, especially if you have high blood pressure. The office staff is the WORST EVER. They won't call you back and ALWAYS act like you're always inconveniencing them (I just want to schedule a followup). Like an office full of gradeschoolers. more

Dr Brewer""s office is the best ever. I have been going there since 1994. Everyone is great. I have never seen any of the doctors pop a nurse on her butt or anything like that. The person that said that must be an Auburn fan because the doctors here are Alabama fans. I love Dr Brewer and Dr Black, they treat you like family. I called to have one of them see my husband who has been going there as long as they have been in business and they got him in very quick. more

If you get sick Monday between 8:30 and 4:30 and subtract the hour for lunch you may have some luck. If you get sick Friday they only work half a day as I guess the other four are more than they can handle. If you get sick and put in the hospital you are in trouble. They DO NOT do hospital visits but use a hospitalist to manage your care so you meet a stranger at the worst possible time. If you have a sinus infection or a simple flu shot is all you need it works. If you are seriously sick though I would not recommend. They also refer you for the simple things. Would not look at a spot to see if it should be checked for skin cancer. Told to call a dermatologist. That will be $25.00 to hear that. No problems with office staff but it is a private practice which handles very little in either time or care. more

I have been a patient of Dr. Lichty for about two years and have nothing but positive things to say about the office and Dr, Lichty. I have never seen or heard any of the negative comments occurring at the office. I highly recommend this office and Dr. Lichty is particular to new patients. He is a very good doctor. more

I completely disagree with the previous posts! I'm a nurse and have been going to this practice for over a decade. Dr. Brewer is incredibly kind and patient, and has taken incredibly good care of me through the years. When he was booked, I never hesitate to see Dr. Lichty or Dr. Black. They are wonderful physicians and I will continue to use them. I have never had a problem with their phone lines, or their nurses. The nurses ALWAYS get back to me the same business day and I have never waited longer than a few hours to have a prescription filled. I also have never had a problem getting an appointment the very same day. I may have to wait 20 min, for them to fit me in, but it has always been worth the wait. more

I have been a patient of Dr. Brewer's for about 10 years. I have always enjoyed talking to Dr. Brewer because he sits down with me and listens. He asks relevant questions and I can tell he cares about me. He takes the time to explain what he thinks is going on with my health and makes sure I understand. I rarely come to the office, so he is doing a good job of helping me stay healthy! The nurses at the office have always gone above and beyond for me. Sometimes, if my prescription runs out and I forget to make an appointment for a new one, they will go ahead and call in my prescription as long as I promise to make an appointment soon (I always do). I can tell they care about my situation and want to help me. I read some of the negative comments about the office and I can't relate at all. I have always had pleasant experiences with the staff, nurses, and doctors. The one thing I will agree on is the wait time, but you should always expect a wait time at the doctor. That's just how it is. Overall, I love this office and will keep coming back! I always recommend it to people new in town. more

This has got to be the worst Dr's office I have ever been to. First, the office manager is not a nice person at all, she is very mean and rude. I witnessed her chewing out, yelling and belittling an employee in the front office for everyone in the waiting room to hear. I know they have had a lot of turn over in the front office and it is probably because of her and how she treats the employees. Second, the nurse that took me back was so rude. I don't know her name but she has straight blond hair and a lot of eye make up on and she smelled like smoke. Third, when the Dr. came in and we got to talking about the problems I was having, he interupted me, cut me off and would not let me talk and he basically told me that how I was feeling was NOT how I was feeling and he would not give me any medicine to help me. Finally as I was leaving I saw the Dr pop that rude nurse on the butt as she was walking down the hall and she just giggled. I believe that is sexual harrassment, isn't it? So...........DO NOT GO TO INVERNESS FAMILY MEDICINE if you want to be treated nice and with respect. Cons: EVERYTHING more

How many times do you get put on hold and no one ever comes back to the phone or send you to the prescription line? And the waiting, it is abusive. I feel sorry for the elderly and the poor folks who just want an injection and have to leave without it or come to pick up something and it is not done. They need to take a close look at the employees running the show. And don't dare forget or cancel your appointment because there is a doctor who will not even talk to you about your health, but will eat your a-- out for it and still get paid. What a joke. This is the most unprofessional doctor's office I have ever visited. When I first arrived, I heard the front desk staff laughing and gossiping loudly about some patients that they encountered earlier that day. Everyone in the waiting room could hear their conversation, they weren't trying to be descrete. Afterward, I went to the back for the LPN to take my vital signs. She asked me some personal questions about a procedure that I was scheduled to have and I answered them, not thinking twice about it. As soon as she left out of the room, I heard her whispering and laughing to another co-worker about my situation. When I left out of the doctor's offiice to get bloodword done, I noticed that quite a few of the staff members were going out of their way to look at me and they would go back and whisper and laugh. This made me feel so uncomfortable because it was so obvious that they were talking about me and looking at me to figure out ""who this person was that was having this ""humerous"" procedure done."" I felt so uncomfortable that I had to let the doctor know what I had experienced. He guaranteed me that he would get to the bottom of the situation and that the LPN would be ""dealt with"". Please don't go to this doctor's office unless you want to see staff huddled around and gossiping the entire time as if there is no work that needs to be done. The doctor was very friendly and understanding but it's very unfortunate that he chose staff members who are very nasty and uses no discretion while discussing patients. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO INVERNESS FAMILY MEDICINE AGAIN!!!! more

I moved to Birmingham and was looking for a good family doctor. I've been there once and now that I REALLY need, they just DON""T CARE. I'm SICK today and I called in to see a doctor. I was told that there was no need to see a doctor, the nurse would call in a antibiotic prescription at CVS Pharmacy. I said OK. Well, that was 9:30am. It is 3:30pm and I've called and called CVS Pharmacy. They never had a call from my doctor's office. I called the doctor's and the nurse said to stop by CVS within 1 HOUR. Well, I was there and CVS never had a call the doctor's office. I called the NURSE and she said: IF YOU WOULD STOP CALLING I WOULD HAVE YOUR PRESCRIPTION CALLED IN. SHE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!! I could not believe it. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: NOTHING Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!!! more
