I eat about two pounds of sugar snap peas per week in the summer. Today I ran out. Instead of going through sugar snap withdrawal, I decided to replenish. I was suspicious when Brennan's didn't have any individual peas to buy, instead they had only $3 cartons of them. But I figured they'd be fine. Also I picked up a half pound of greek pasta salad from the deli, per the recommendation of the worker.
I went back to work to enjoy my spoils. I started with the salad. Now I don't know about you, but I use oil and vinegar to complement such dishes. Apparently the Brennan's deli believes oil & vinegar is the MAIN SHOW, and the pasta and feta and olives are only supporting cast. You'd think that with all the added fat and calories it'd at least be tasty. Wrong! It was sour and frankly uneatable. Take home message: avoid the deli.
At least I had my beloved sugar snap peas! I popped one in, starting chewing....hmmm...something isn't right. I opened one up and beheld 8 *tiny* peas, each the size of a pinhead. I SPENT THREE DOLLARS FOR A POUND OF SUGAR SNAP.
I am going back tomorrow, and I am going to find my peas.
Pros: selection of wine
Cons: packaged produce and deli
