Very clean, nice, and informative 6/14/2010

Will continue to take my pup to paws and claws! Pros: clean facilities and knowledgeable doctor Cons: dogs are always costly more

giving 4 paws and many claws way up for this hospital! 4/22/2010

The place wasn't far to get to so therefore the time it took for me to travel wasn't bad at all. So this proves to me I can come here more often and save time and energy especially by car. \r \r When I got to the hospital it seemed very clean and professional on the inside. It had friendly staff that was attentive to my needs and courteous in answering my questions. I had seen Dr. Allan Bregman who was very polite and was knowledgable in his field. Everyone was friendly and we all had a couple of laughs in the process. I asked for a regular check up, claws trimmed, and an ear check up and i recieved all three for my pet and i appreciated the willingness to help. I got the care that I needed and wanted from this place for my loving cat and my cat seemed calm in their presence..they handled him very well and i felt comfortable being there and bringing my pet to this location and will defintetly consider doing so again. \r \r Pros: efficent staff, knowledgable doctors, good clean hospital Cons: none so far that i can say at the moment to be honest! more

Finally a great vet in Williamsburg 1/6/2010

Finally a doctor who reads the health records, listens to the issues and executes a plan to find out exactly what ails my pet. Dr. Pingle was considerate, kind, thoughtful, and really set me at ease. She's extremely knowledgeable, and told me about examinations and treatments that my former vet NEVER mentioned. Somebody answered my prayers. I was at Northside Vet Clinic on Berry and their holistic vet refused to diagnose or medicate my dog with anything that wasn't herbal. For 6 months I threw money away while my frenchie suffered terrible skin allergies that kept him up all night scratching, bleeding, licking, losing hair and gets welts. Dr. Pingle never bad-mouthed my former vet, she didn't roll her eyes when I told her about all the hokey holistic things we had to try. She was professional and only interested in discussing the dog's treatment presently. I can't say the same for Dr. Eisner at Northside. she spent most of her time telling me what my last vet did ""wrong."" Every time Dr. Pingle mentioned a treatment she gave me a price, mindful of the fact that not everyone is made of money. The examination fee was miniscule. I was amazed, I would happily have spent more money for this kind of care. You mean you're going to help my dog AND save me money? Thanks! more

They speak to cats 5/30/2009

I have never seen anyone be able to calm a scared cat down just by holding her in the right position and quietly whispering to her. My cat is a street rescue and for the first couple of years was EXTREMELY skittish and would violently claw any threat without even thinking about it. Once she needed her (they won't let me write the word, WTF?) glands expressed. When we started we were afraid she would need to be anesthetized for the procedure. But after only 5-10 seconds the vet and her assistant had her lying on her side and calmly purring as they did their dirty work. They pet her and whispered assurances to her the whole time. When I got her home she did not hide or seem traumatized in any way. About 2 weeks later she jumped into my lap for the first time and has become the calmest, most loving lap-cat. I feel like that experience taught her that the humans in her life are here to help her. It was amazing. She's been back a couple of times for this or that and she always seems happy to see the vet. It's weird, but it's all I ned to know about the place. Pros: Fast, reliable, knowledgeable, caring Cons: They always try and sell some junk you don't need more

WOW-- really caring vets 3/9/2009

Cant say enough about this place, esp. Dr. Pingle. I have a cat which has had problems which got so bad that I took her in with the thought that I was going to put her to sleep. Dr. Pingle basically talked me out of it and she tried every last trick to save my cat. Dont know if my cat is going to make it but I know it is not for the lack of trying !! Go, Dr. Pingle... more

Regarding Paws and Claws 12/16/2008

I bought a dog on Bedford and & 7th about 5 months ago. When we got him home he would not eat or drink and was throwing up every half hour. I brought him to Paws and Claws where they diagnosed him with Parvo. He immediately went into there separate quarantine where they hooked him to I.V.s and pumped him full of fluids. I believe it was 3 days he was in when we got a call that we could come pick him up. He would barely lift his head when we took him in and when we picked him up he was jumping and playing. This is my first dog and I have no experience with Vets but to bring my dog back from the brink of death like that was amazing. They are still the people I bring my dog to and have yet to have a complaint. My dog is now 8 months old and do for his neutering I have confidence that they will do a good job so I am going to set up an appointment with them soon. If all go's well I will be happy to give them the 5th star. Pros: Nice staff, Saved my dogs life Cons: A bit of a walk for me but my dog loves it more

Terrible Vets! 1/16/2008

I have been to Paws and Claws several times, due to the convenience of it being in our neighborhood. Every time I'm there, its clear that they are not only very unknowledgable of my pet, but they are also uncaring and rude. Our visit last week will be our last one. Its worth the trip to Manhattan to avoid undue stress to your pet. more

Euthanised my 8 month old Puppy- all it needed was a neuter 7/5/2007

I have/had two beautiful Jack Russell Puppies. We had debated on having them neurtered at all and decided the health benefit would be better in the long run to prevent cancers etc. We took them in and were told they would be ready at 4pm. not an hour later we got a call and it was the vet stating that our puppy, perfectly healthy puppy had died from the anethesia. We rushed down and were told he had an allergic reaction to the General Anethesia. After CPR for 45 minutes I went in and pet him and kissed him one last time. They stopped the CPR and called it. I can never forgive myself for having taken him there. In only 8 months that puppy had weaved itsself into my heart and in a matter of minutes was ripped out of my life. I think I got a partial refund and someone said I had received flowers from them. Pros: Clean sterile emplyees and office Cons: Has chemicals that can hurt your animal when misused. I wonder if they know that? more
