After days of calling every vet in the phone book to get help for my dog, including Breeze Animal Hospital, I became desperate and loaded her into the car figuring that if they saw her, they would feel compelled to help. The problem: I am new in town and my dog is in distressed labor. I admit that I should have had her fixed, but we were a little more remote in Illinois and it hadn't been an issue. Now in Florida, I am not an established client, so emergency services over the weekend were not available to me and my girl. Despite that, I still left pleas on every answering machine in town. To my surprise, no one called to help. After three days of being rejected, I showed up. For a bit, I allowed myself to be optimistic that she would finally get help even though I pleaded my case with Breeze on 2 prior occasions. I was wrong. They quickly went to work on an estimate that was nearly $2000.00. I explained again that I was new in the area and I had just spent my savings moving here. They then returned with a much less expensive estimate of $165 to put her to sleep. So, rather than work out a payment plan with me they had me put my dog down and made me feel like it was a horrible situation. And it was a horrible situation, but not the kind that happens, the kind they created by refusing to help save a life unless there was money exchanged.
