My favorite Italian restaurant in the city 5/8/2012

Bravo Franco is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city. The service is always great, the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food is absolutely terrific! If you can save room for dessert the lemon silk and key lime pies are worth every calorie. Many thanks to the chef and staff for keeping the customers happy. more

What a surprise 5/4/2012

We decided to go after a show Sunday evening. Walked passed it many times but went in on a whim today. It was a nice day so we were able to sit outside and the waitress was very attentive. The food had really good flavor. They were a little pricy, but the portions are large, and we took half home. A few weeks later, we decided to stop in again. This time trying an appetizer. Again everything tasted great, and I could not have asked for better service. more

I will be back again! 5/1/2012

The service & hostess was really good. more

Wonderful Service 10/27/2011

My husband took me there for my birthday and we had the best waitress. The food was wonderful but she made the experience worthwhile. She was pleasant, funny and friendly and service was outstanding. I believe her name was Melissa. I would definitely go back again. more

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT 7/10/2011

We would not recommend this restaurant. A party of 6 with reservation on a Sunday evening arrived with expectation of fine dining. Nothing close to that occured. The table was crowded, too close to other tables. Waiter was nice but our food arrived mildly warm. The linguine must have been under a heated lamp. Service was marginal at best. Waited too long. Price was too high for the food we received. We will never eat here again. more

Was a pleasure 2/13/2011

While in Pittsburgh for a show and a concert later that night the wife and I happened on this spot. Sat immediately and service was excellent. Food was terrific and the atmosphere was pleasant. In and out without reservation within an hour. Thanks to the staff and chef for the excellent time. more

Bravo is awful 6/17/2010

Had dinner there on Monday before the Tony Bourdain show. Wanted to sit at bar just for a quick drink and bite to eat. Was pushed to take a table. Service was awful. 15 mins before we got our bottle of wine, 20 mins to get our pasty shrimp bisque, 40 for our entree - which was over cooked seafood pasta. You couldn't even chew the scallops. The $10 Ceaser salad was just romaine ribs with a scant amount of dressing. I now know why we haven't eaten there for over 15 years. What a waste. We actually left Sonoma to give this place another try. Stupid! It was an insult that we actually ate a place like that and then attended the Bourdain show. Pros: Location Cons: See below - to numerous to put here more

Good Pre-Theatre Fare 2/16/2009

It's not really my kind of atmosphere but the food is delicious and consistent and the staff works very hard to accomodate the pre-theatre crowd. They've squeezed us in last minute, put a rush on our order, and got us out in time for the curtain. Reservations are definitely recommended...although we got lucky without one. more

Stay Away and Tell Others...I sure will 8/8/2008

Fruit Flies, uninformed staff, owners who are not involed (Mark's at the bar but won't address unsatisfied customers?) Why would a restaurant ever charge $1.75 for three tablespoons of marinara sause for a $10.95, 15 piece calamari appetizer? Are scallops with butter and bread crumbs really worth $8 a scallop? Pros: walking distance from hotel Cons: food/value/fruit flies/bad staff/very over priced more

Stellar Food, Rude Service 6/4/2008

I've only eaten here once as a direct result of my experience with their staff. The Hostess, upon reviewing our reservation, had the nerve to tell our party, ""I'll take your coats. You tip me and I will retrieve them for you at the end of your meal."" Last I checked, a patron is obligated to tip in instances of exemplary service... not merely because he or she is TOLD to by the tipee. On the other hand, the food was stellar--just not worth the hassel of rude service. more

Great Steak 10/29/2006

The filet with Blue Cheese was wonderful. Well prepared food...great service...easy to get to. A great experience more

Location is its strength 7/30/2006

The food is inconsistent as is the service. I've had really good food and I've had mediocre food but if you're looking for something convenient to the theater district, this is it. If you're dining before the show, allow yourself 2 hours. Pros: close to the theater district Cons: Inconsistant quality more

Awful service 3/12/2005

Awful service - barely saw the waiter. Made jokes with us upon giving us the final check.... too little too late. I do not recommend sitting at the bar area if you are looking for good service. more

Great Spot before the Show 6/28/2004

I've been going to Bravo's for years now as a prelude to attending events in the Cultural District. You can't beat the proximity to the shows. Service is quite good, wine list is creative, and the menu is very good if perhaps a little pedestrian. Pros: Location, Location, Location more

Disappointed 6/9/2004

My husband and I were highly disappointed with our meal at Bravo Franco. From appetizer to dessert, the food was bland and unimpressive. The side dishes were standardized for all entrees and did not complement the entree's individual flavor. The chocolate mousse was particularly poor. One positive to the dinner was the wine. We had the MacMurry Pinot Noir. It was excellent! I would recommend Bravo as a nice place for an after-show drink. Pros: Good Service, Excellent Wine, Prompt Seating Cons: , Boring Side Dishes, Poor Desserts more

Favorite Lunch 9/30/2002

The soups, including the daily, are always freshly made and you get your money's worth. Please do not use name. Pros: Central locations, Great bar, Good lunch prices Cons: Crowded on show night, Crowded on show night, Cigars allowed in bar more
