We've been with Dr. Barnes for over 8 years and believe that he and his staff genuinely care about each of our "rascals". That was never more evident than when we had an emergency situation with our newly adopted dog Barkley. Dr. Barnes went above and beyond in making sure that he was there for us and Barkley. He's never been anything less than professional. For those who commented that he runs late for appointments - so what?It's because he's taking the time to care for each of his patients and I would hope that he would do the same for vme when I needed him. He's kind and caring and truly makes a difference in the lives of those of us who love their pets as family members. more

I moved to KS in 2008 with my little rescue dog a 6 lb Maltese. This being my very first pet of my own I was very naive and scared. In receiving raving refererrals about Dr. Barnes I took my little pup to see him. He "spoon fed" me if you will regarding diet, exercise and general well-being tips and information regarding the care of my little dog. My dog is healthy and happy and I don't know if I could be so relaxed with her if it had not been for Dr. Barnes. I realized at my first meeting he has a genuine love for animals and this set me at ease immediately. As long as I am in KS there is no other place I would even consider taking my little dog. I have been taking my dogs to Bradford Pet Hospital for 10 years. Dr. Barnes and his staff have always been kind and understanding. When I had to have my 15 year old Basset Hound put down, Dr. Barnes was exceptionally kind and sat with me as I dealt with my loss. Most recently I found out that my Bichon needed surgery to remove a tumor from his neck. This was a major expense as I had lost my job 15 months previously. Dr. Barnes worked with me to make this surgery affordable and allow my dog to continue to live a happy healthy life. I recommend Dr. Barnes, his professional staff and Bradford Pet Hospital to anyone wo needs loving care for their animals. more

Dr Barnes and his staff have helped us more than I can express in words. No matter how complex the problem they will find the answer and treat you and your pets like family. I have no doubt our pets lives have been improved and extended thanks to Bradford Pet Hospital. Recently, we had to put our Boxer in "doggy heaven" and I believe Dr. Barnes gave us more years with our beloved Murphy than any other facility could have. Recently, we had to have our 11 1/2 year old boxer put to sleep. Jed and his staff were such a comfort, and so compassionate during the process, making this experience so much more comfortable not only for us, but for our dear beloved Murphy! I have used many veterinarians over the years, but no one else since meeting Dr. Jed Barnes some 20-odd years ago; and I hate to see his reputation or that of Bradford Pet Hospital denigrated in any way by what, to an educated observer, seem to be nothing more than the rantings of a disgruntled ex-employee. Allow me to set the record straight.\r \r Dr. Barnes' breadth of medical knowledge and skill are exceeded only by his compassion for his clients and their animals under his care. This professional attitude permeates his entire staff. Whenever alternate treatments are available, he thoroughly discusses them in detail, together with all their pros and cons (costs included -- his is in business, after all) and helps the client decide on a course best suited to both the client and the pet.\r \r Because he is successful, he is usually quite busy, but never fails to stick his head out and offer a heart-felt greeting if I happen to stop by to refill a prescription or pick up some product. more

I have done business with Dr. (yes, that would be Dr., NOT Mr.) Barnes for over 20 years. He has been kind, fair and honest with me and has taken wonderful care of all of my animals I have taken to him. His staff is pleasant, informative and respectful. Negative reviews concerning what he drives and the fact he doesn't work on Tuesdays are absolutely ridiculous and have nothing to do with the quality of care at Bradford Pet Hospital. You rock, Dr. Barnes, and don't let the nitpickers get to you -- they probably nitpick everything in their miserable lives. more

I have been taking my 3 dogs and 3 cats to Dr. Jed Barnes since I moved to the area many years ago, even before he established Bradford Pet Hospital. He is a wonderful vet - kind, caring, and compassionate. I have many wonderful stories I could tell about how he has treated my family and my pets. Once my daughter found a sickly kitten. We took the kitten to Dr. Barnes, where he diagnosed him with feline AIDS. He advised us not to take the kitten home as our healthy cats would be exposed. He and his staff nursed that kitten at the hospital for over a month. He did not charge me anything for the care and treatment of this homeless kitten. In addition, he found a home for the kitten with a women who only cares for cats with AIDS. I so appreciated what Dr. Barnes did for my family and that kitten. I was glad that I was later able to pay him back by finding a home for a cat who had been left and abandoned at his facility. I have boarded my dogs at Bradford many times. My first experience with Bradford was ok. I took my cat in to have him looked at for an alergy that has persisted throughout his life. The vet did not give any new information that I did not already know as I have had the cat looked at by several vets due to the fact nobody can tell me what it is that he is alergic to. They just keep giving him steroids and he is better for awhile. And that was exactly what the vet from Bradford did. Satisfied with my first visit to Bradford I decided that I would use them again as they are right down the street from my house and the cat does not travel in cars well. BIG MISTAKE! This last summer my cat developed a hematoma in his ear. I knew this to be the case as he has already been through this a few years ago with the other ear. I disagree with the previous post. As with any doctor, sometimes they get it wrong. I have to say that Dr. Barnes is really thorough and very nice..I work with an animal rescue and have taken over 50 dogs to Dr. Barnes. He's always given me his undivided attention and when I've had problems after hours, he's always called me back right away. He has worked with me when I didn't have the money right away and always been extremely friendly. He has great groomers there that have been equally as nice. I would recommend this facility to anyone any day. They're prices are reasonable compared to other vets in the area, and their service is great. more

The staff at Bradford is top notch. Dr. Barnes...not so much. My dog got a cough that got bad enough that she would vomit. I took her in and told Dr. Barnes what was happening. I told him "I'm not a vet but I think she has an upper resp infection." My dog had x-rays of her stomach (to make sure she didn't swallow something?), she was dewormed (although no worms showed up on the fecal), put on anti nausea meds, given special food for $2.00 a can, poked, stuck, you name it. FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS AND 2 WEEKS LATER I went back and talked to the Friday Vet at Bradford. After I told her what we had been through she looked at my dog, smiled and said, "She has a upper resp, here is a $5.00 script". Cough was gone in 2 days. It's not the money as much as the fact that my dog had to suffer for 2 weeks. \r \r Fast forward about a year. I had taken her in 6 weeks beforehand for her shots. Bradford Pet Hospital has the most caring staff. They are incredibly knowledgeable and always are happy to see our pets. When my 13 year old dachshund had to be put to sleep, Dr Barnes was so kind and understanding--I would not have wanted to been any where or with anyone else. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for a vet or wanting a change. more
