Awesome service but bad country fried steak. 2/6/2008

The overall experience was great, the swedish waitress and the swedish pancakes were awesome. The country fried steak however was pretty bad, I didn't return it though. The rest of the meal was great, the hash browns are nice and gold with good texture and the decor is nice and modern with a very spacious attitude. We got a huge booth all to ourselves even though it was busy as well. Pros: Swedish pancakes Cons: Country Fried Steak more

Nice Decore, good food and service 6/5/2007

I like having the 12.95 Dinners that run fron 4:30 to 6:00. I would like to have the Roast Beef and Liver Added to the $12.95 Dinners that include your drink and soup or salad.I find the Dinners better than the breakfasts!. But the place is well run by a very nice Greek Famley and the staff are warm and friendly! Pros: The dinners are great service is good! Cons: The Brekfast's are average but are not up to the dinners. more

Pretty good for the neighborhood 1/17/2007

We came for a quick dinner after the movies yesterday and found it to be surprisingly better than we thought. The ribs appetizer was tender and tasty. The entire menu was pretty impressive for what we thought was going to be the usual suspects for diner food. Looking around, we saw steaks, pastas and fish that were all nicely plated. We had the Blvd burger and the grilled chicken sandwich since we were craving quick eats. Both were good so we decided this place would be a place we would try again since it was so close to home. more

World's Most Delicious Hash Browns 10/8/2006

Seated fast, served efficiently with great manners, fed outrageously well!!! And I can take my friends and their families and know they will enjoy themselves. Pros: Great food and service Cons: Noisy more

Best restaurant in the area 5/15/2006

Definitely going to miss Boulevard as we are moving to Oakland. We eat there AT LEAST once a week. Not sure if we can find a comparable place in the Eastbay but will try. Try it, you'll like it. Pros: Clean, Friendly, parking Cons: a tad noisy more

Wished for a Better Experience 5/15/2006

Though parking lot is abundently on premise, valet pking in unncessary. Silly for them to get my car only 10 ft away. For parties of 6 or more, gratuity is automatic. Service sucked- two parties dined and left before we were done w/ dessert. We experienced bad service because we did not order drinks - the waiter snickered us for no drinks - we had 9mth and 2 yr old w/ us. And the food was just okay, nothing spectacular or ooohh...or ahh....My son had spaghetti and meetballs - not enough sauce caused my 2 yr old son to gag - it was dry! They never brough my ketchup for meal. My wifes pork shoulder tasted like enchiladas. We definitely will not return. But try it for yourself and experience it yourself...though they have kids menu, it's not kid suitable. Goodluck changing a diaper in the womens or mens room.... Pros: close to freeway, early bird specials Cons: valet pkg unnecessary, slow service for 6+, not kid friendly more

Finally...a place to eat 5/5/2006

I just ate at Boulevard Cafe for the first time. Even though I have passed by a million times, I never ventured inside fearing it would be another dive restaurant....I was certainly suprised. The service was great, even the owners were very attentive. And the food and price were even better. They also did a great job with the remodling of the space, Lyons this is not! Finally, a decent place to eat for people living in San Francisco and Daly City who don't feel like driving back downtown and fighting for parking or reservations... I highly recommend it to anyone living in the area. Pros: Food, Service, Price more

blah 2/5/2006

the food was so/so at best, the waiter messed up our order, and you must have your car valet was is that? Pros: prompt seating Cons: food more

ENJOYABLE 1/28/2006

My husband and I have been going to Boulevard Cafe since it open. The ravoli's on the Sunday special has wonderful meaty sauce (not watery). Try the prawns appetizer. I always suggest the lamb with roasted potatoes and feta, best on the menu. One Friday I had a taco shell with a chilean see bass, melted in your mouth. Never ate brussel sprouts until now.Try these those who fear this vegetable. You will learn to LOVE brussel sprouts. Noise, I can't complain. Our hobby is going restuarants and trust me the noise level here is not that bad as people say and they did do changes to minimize the noise. My 92 year old mother brings all her friends there and she is picky so it must be good. The owners and staff will always check with you, so if you have a problem tell them they would like to know. ENJOY! Pros: valet parking, close to BART, good food Cons: parking more

Can you say bleh? 1/21/2006

I dont know why this place was packed when I went because the food certainly isnt the explanation. My Asian prawn pasta was basically spaghetti noodles drenched in soy sauce with an occasional prawn, mushroom slice or spinach leaf and some sesame seeds sprinkled on top. It was way too salty. I had a taste of my friends dishes and those were equally dissatisfying. The meals may look good but after one taste youll realize you shouldve eaten elsewhere. The service is ok but the food is just bleh. Cons: food, over-priced more

Turning my kitchen into a third bedroom 1/15/2006

My wife and I can't get enough of the food, ambience and attention at the Boulevard Cafe. We are there so often since we discovered it we're thinking of shutting down our kitchen at home and turning it into a third bedroom. The choices are plentiful, the service is top notch, the staff and owners always willing to please. I especially like the fish and chips, meat loaf, pot roast, and fried chicken. My wife loves the Mediterranean pasta. The staff went overboard entertaining a small group of mine and I recommend that they add osso bucco as a special to the existing menu. There is nothing else like this in 10 miles. Pros: owners, well trained staff, ambience Cons: a bit noisy more

Agree with previous reviewer: needs improvement 1/7/2006

Been here twice now.. And the early bird daily specials seem to be a good value. The cobb salad was good, but dressing a bit unconventional. The turkey sandwich was highly disappointing... very light on the turkey.. mostly thick bread and mayo. The salads were average spring mix with carrots shaved on top. Although friendly, the service was spotty and we felt abandoned midway through the dinner. In short, there is considerable room for improvement with both food and service. Also, the menu is all over the place. Seems like each of the various owners wanted to go in a different direction. It's not really a cafe (despite it's name) yet not really an upscale restaurant either... Pros: daily specials, parking Cons: spotty service, owners hovering about, confused focus more

Is this really in Daly City? 11/15/2005

In Daly City you're normally caught in the dilemma of going to the City or going to Burlingame. This place is right in the middle - just right. Attentive service needs improvement but there is a lot to like here. Stick with the daily specials. Really good fried chicken (on Mondays). Basics like steak and spaghetti & meatballs still need some fine tuning and flavor. They have a full bar and cocktail lounge too. It's tasteful and tastey without the suburban bourgeois tackiness. Just like I said - just right. Pros: free parking, daily specials, value Cons: unattentive service, flavorless basics more

Great new restaurant concept 10/30/2005

Unique, new larger restaurant and bar (a completely remodeled Lyons) run by an extended family of restaurant pros that are always present working. Interesting combination of haut cuisine, nouvelle good eatin, and reprised American diner while always employing really good ingredients but at very reasonable prices. The menu is brilliant, with something for everyone. Service is usually very attentive and the management is extremely considerate; the interior is very fun. The bar is also attractive and quieter than the dining rooms. The owners continue to fine-tune their ideas, too. Pros: menu, ingredients, value Cons: can be noisy more

My new favorite restaurant... 9/16/2005

In May 2005, Lyon's Restaurant was transformed into a diner's delight! Remodeled inside and out, it is a wonderful, comforable place to meet and eat. Whomever did the hiring, did an amazing job. The workers, from busboy to servers to the hostess, chefs and owners...everyone is friendly and efficient. A cozy bar sits to the right. You can eat in there, with or without a drink. A great, safe place, for a women's get together! The food covers every angle, from basic to very tasty and very satisfying. You will not go away wanting more, and their desserts will make you smile! Prices are average, and there is a children's menu. Parking lot has blue zones and a ramp, for accessiblity. The bathrooms are always clean. This is now where I invite everyone, to join me, for a good meal and a great experience. Ya gotta eat, why not here!? Pros: Parking, clean bathrooms, child friendly more

WHAT A WONDERFUL RESTAURANT 9/15/2005

THE FOOD AND THE SERVICE WAS AWESOME.......EVERY ONE IS SO FRIENDLY. A WONDERFUL PLACE TO HAVE A GREAT MEAL WITH FRIENDLY SERVERS AND EXCELLENT SERVICE.........AND REASONABLE PRICES TO BOOT..... Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, ATMOSPHERE Cons: PARKING more

Finally somewhere to go 8/21/2005

What a treat someone has finally brought a little class to Daly city.Been in twice and had a fabulous time. The specials are fine dining quality in a non-pretentios enviorment, and the rest of the menu is almost taylor made for the area , a little bit for every body. I found my new spot for great food outside of Sanfran. Pros: Parking, Service, Quality Cons: A bit noisy more

Fabulous! 8/21/2005

So... my friends have been raving about this place. They have gone once a week since it opened. I just went last night. The Food, The Service.... Perfect! I really enjoyed the short rib starter and then the fish special was AMAZING. I had the grilled whole sea bass... YUM! The grilled leaks with that dish were delish! The service is fabulous. They are really trying to create a great locals place to go. The atmosphere is really unique. They took over the Lyons and made it a really cool space. Check it out! Pros: Parking, Atmosphere, The Lounge Cons: Nothing more
