The second star in the rating is because I don't have any complaints about the friendly staff or the equipment at the facility itself.
However, the corporate billing practices reek of shaking people down for extra fees. Because I got a replacement card for a lost credit card, BSC was apparently unable to pull the monthly fee on time. The fee still went through, a few days later, only with a $9.00 fee added on for both my account and my wife's. Fine - I understand that this might happen. However, I didn't notice the mix-up for three months (that's $54.00 for both accounts), and BSC never sent any kind of notification that this was happening - I only saw it when I went back through my credit card statements. I went back in to change the information, and the next month I was still charged the $9.00 late fee. After calling member services and being transferred to the third party who does the billing for BSC, I waited on hold for 30 minutes and spoke with a polite and utterly unhelpful representative for another 20. Finally, she offered to waive only the most recent late fee, ""in good faith,"" when said fee was an administrative mistake on their part - it was assessed for the billing cycle occurring two weeks after I had updated the credit card information.
Poor customer service, and I'm going to have to watch my bill like a hawk for the next two years. If you want to show me some good faith, waive those other late fees since you never bothered to contact me about them in the first place.
Pros: Clean, new equipment
Cons: Questionable billing practices
