BO's is the BEST!!!! We had a birthday party for 40 and everyone( and it is a foodie crowd) was very happy with the BBQ.. The Brisket was absolutely yummy, likewise the ribs-glo...

Worst

When you choose to dine to Bo's, you do it on his terms. Phone orders are not taken. Credit cards are not accepted. Bo's has a concise menu yet some items (like chicken or ribs...

cool atmosphere/ food is marginal 6/23/2006

Bo's is a cool place, where the staff is nice, and the music is good. The food, however... leaves something to be desired. Don't go there for the food. Go for the entertainment. Pros: Fun place Cons: bad food more

Cool Cats eat at Bo's 3/9/2006

Wow, just got home celebrating my 46th. birthday at Bo's. Tonight my wife and I took our two adult children along with our daughter-in-law, our daughter's boyfriend, and even our 9 month old grandaughter to Bo's. It was awesome. Great food, warm atmosphere and groovin' blues. We felt right at home, and were even blessed by a visit with Bo. The service was close to the very best we have ever had anywhere. The music was as loud as it should be. Who wants to talk when you've got a huge plate of ""back yard"" style barbeque in front of you? If you're looking for a ""high-class"" place with that ""romantic"" atmosphere, perhaps Bo's is not for you. But if you want to fell welcomed into your good old friends home for a great supper, then Bo's is the place. We'll be back. Many, many times..... Pros: Homestyle cooking, Great mix of people, Felt like Bo's home more

Amazing brisket / horrible atmosphere 11/21/2005

The brisket is amazing, although the quality does change from visit to visit. Sometime's you'll receive an amazing cut, sometimes you won't. But overall, it's really very good. Downside is that they've recently started having live music. This is horrible! I was trying to eat with my friend when they started playing WAY TOO LOUD, so I couldn't even chat with my friend. Bo - I can make two recommends to make your place really shine. You know how to BBQ a mean brisket. Now you just need to work on these areas- 1) Get rid of the live music. Many folks were commenting the day I was there how they wish the live music would stop. 2) Jazz up your side dishes. Nobody is impressed with plain green salad and cold bread. Pros: great brisket Cons: loud live music, boring sides, overpriced more

Now with live music! 8/31/2005

If you go to a BarBQ joint mostly for the cornbread and beans, you will be unhappy here. But if you go for the ribs, brisket, chicken, or links, this is your place. The meat is Neiman Ranch (you can go short end or long end on the ribs), the bread is Acme, and the sauce is outstanding. Plus Bo is a kick-learned his craft in Mississippi, always a twinkle in his eye and smile that lights up the room. Huge selection of beers and wines (there were bottles of Opus One on the counter last week), and he now has live blues/jazz several nights a week. Pros: the Q, Bo, wine/beer selection Cons: location more

Good BBQ, but where are the beans? 7/20/2005

I'm always looking for authentic barbecue--something to take me back to my Texas roots. After a bit of research, my boyfriend and I stumbled across Bo's in Lafayette. Before going, we did a ""drive by"" and the smell coming from the kitchen was DIVINE. Upon arriving, the owner we received a complimentary glass of wine -- an extra effort that was appreciated, particularly since the line is rather long on most days. I was a bit disappointed that slaw and beans weren't on the menu. And equally surprised that baked potatoes -- or potatoes of any kind weren't available. And neither was cornbread! Afterall, these are staples of an authentic barbecue restaurant! The service was a bit slow as well. But overall, I would definitely give Bo's a huge thumbs up as the brisket and Ribs are fab! Pros: great brisket, great sauce, good bear/wine select Cons: no baked beans, no baked potatoes, no cornbread! more

Best BBQ west of the Mississippi! 7/12/2005

Bo's has wonderful food, a very nice selection of bottled beers and wines, and an awesome deck to dine al fresco. Hands down some of the best food in the Bay area! Pros: Amazing food!, Niman Ranch meats, Great wine and beer Cons: In the East Bay, Long lines on weekend, A liittle pricey more

LOVE THAT BO'S! 6/9/2005

Our family's absolute favorite place to eat out is Bo's! From the friendly, informal service, and newly-expanded and light dining room, to the amazing drink selection, we get off to a great start. And then that BBQ -- the BEST! The brisket is out of this world. And the salad greens are always fresh and perfectly dressed. Corn, yams and potato salad are yummy, but I miss the beans that used to be served. And if you still have room, the sweet potato pie is to die for! Pros: BBQ sauce, Great salad!, Friendly service more

Great BBQ sauce 4/27/2005

The BBQ here is very good, with the ribs and the BBQ sauce is especially tasty. The prices here, however, seemed very expensive compared to what you get. No beans or cornbread was available to order, and the only beverages you can get are from the refrigerator cooler when you walk in (ie everything is in a bottle or can). The food does take a while to come out from the kitchen. Pros: Tasty BBQ sauce, Great ribs Cons: Very pricey, Limited side items more

Why All the Bad Press? 2/28/2005

Been to Bo's a few times and I love it. Food is good and tasty and the selection of beers is awesome! Everyone I have ever taken there has agreed that it is good Barbeque and can't wait to get back there. Pros: Great Food, Great Beer more

BBQ? no thanks 7/18/2004

How do you call yourself a BBQ place when you don't serve pulled or chopped pork, beans of any kind and no greens or corn bread. The ribs taste like ham without the sauce. Got my fill of corn cob halfs at KFC when I was 6. Apparently Bo is French because that would be the only excuse to serve french bread with BBQ. I wish I could say the chicken was good but he doesn't cook enough to last past 7pm. Brisket was o.k. Overall it was a BBQ sham. Be ashamed! Pros: large soda selection Cons: , menu, little english spoken more

diane 4/5/2004

we had the ribs and briskett. delecious, as was the sauce. that's it. the potatoe salad was alright. was served up with a half of baked yam which was cold; ""green salad"" which was mixed salad greens that might have come out of those big bags you can buy at costco, and a piece of some type of french roll. instead of cornbread. the worse pecan pie i have ever had. small amounts and big prices. i will never go back there. Pros: meat and sauce more
