See now, I did not like the margaritas! Weird. 4/4/2006

I thought the drinks were a little on the sugary side. Not salty enough, even though I asked for like, extra salt. But the empanadas? OH MY SWEET LORD. Heaven on a plate. Amazing selection of yummy appetizers and each selection is equally delicious. To be fair, I have not eaten there in a few years, but I seem to remember the neverending warm tortilla chips and salsa while you wait. yay. The long line and wait time to get a table is worth it if you're in the mood for some good mexican food. mmm! more

Very Good Margaritas 3/19/2006

The Border Cafe in Saugus is a very busy restaurant and is recommended for group dining or meals where you don't mind being casual. They often have quite a wait for a table during popular times, but they have a very nice bar area where you can enjoy a delicious margarita when you wait. The menu at the Border Cafe is Tex-Mex and has everything you might ever want to have from this cuisine type. The Gumbo and the Chilli Rellenos are very good- the other dishes lack spice and adequate flavoring. Stay away from the meat-centric dishes- the cooks here tend to cook things to death. THe prices at the Border are very reasonable with most entrees ringing in below $10. The margaritas are very reasonable as well- most are $6 and can be custom ordered in different flavors and types of liquor. Very good overall. Service can be inattentive due to the business of the restaurant- but is friendly once you call them over. more
