Best hospital in Richmond 9/19/2012

I am an accountant so words are not my strength but I feel like I need to try to express my appreciation to St. Mary's Hospital, and specifically to Robyn Porter. I recently had an MRI to determine if I had a recurrence of breast cancer. There were scheduling problems (due to insurance approvals) and delays with the MRI (due to problems with the patient before me). Robyn went above and beyond to ensure my anxiety was as low as it could be and also kept my Mom informed on the day of teh MRI. She told me when I could epect the results and gave me her direct phone number and told me to call with ANY concerns I had. When I called she called me back in less than 30 minutes. Unfortunately I have had several occasions over the last few years to have need for services at St. Mary's. Everyone there - doctors, nurses, admitting employees, volunteers, janitorial staff - have been caring and compassionate. Richmond is fortunate to have a hospital the caliber of St. Mary's. more

Good experience 9/21/2011

I recently had surgery here. My waiting time at the Admission area was less than 5 minutes. In the different areas that I visited, I found very helpful & professional staff. Everyone was friendly. The place is clean & I was very impressed with the Orthopedic Unit. I give it a 5 because I was able to compare my experience with my Mother-in-law's, who had the same procedure done at another Hospital in town. The Parking lot is being worked on & they do have Valet parking that is very efficient. more

Great place to have a baby 11/9/2005

St. Mary's has the best newborn care in the area. When my baby was born with a feeding problem, the lactation consultants and nurses took great care of us, even arranging for us to stay an extra day at minimal cost to use after the insurance wouldn't pay. Other hospitals had baby-unfriendly policies, like restrictions on rooming in and when the baby was "allowed" to be brought from the nursery to mom to nurse (when it was convenient for the nurse shift schedule!). We saw none of this at St. Mary's. Suzanne more

Busy Hospital 11/7/2005

St. Mary's hospital is always so busy. The parking lot is terrible. There is never any spots available. The hospital itself is good, but it so full that it is hard to get the attention that you need when you are sick. The staff are friendly and they do excellent work, but it is very over crowded. more
