Editorial review from Citysearch 8/9/2012

Food is hit or miss. Sometimes it is bland, sometimes it is blisteringly hot, it didn't used to be so inconsistent. Dessert is outstanding here. The one dish I would absolutely not recommend is the Navratan korma, it seems to be bagged frozen mixed veggies in sauce. The malai kofta used to be delicious, recently changed to a white sauce that is very bland. I do recommend, because chicken dishes ARE consistently good. I have never had a problem with the service. more

Best Indian food in the Detroit area. 6/30/2009

I've gone to about 7 other Indian restaurants in this area, one in Ontario and One in Montreal QU and this has the freshest, most flavourful food. Sometimes you are wondering when are going to get your basket of Nan but otherwise the place is the best. more

Awful Food, Horrible Service at Bombay Grille in Farmington Hills 2/16/2009

Just awful!!\r Food was old and stale. There trying to pass off last week?s food as ?fresh? by adding some onions and garnishes to the top. \r Service was just as bad as the food. The waiter just gave us a ?I don?t care? attitude. The waiting came at the beginning to sit us down. Brought us the food we order, and then gave us the bill. The waiter didn?t re-fill our water, didn?t bother to ask us if we wanted any thing else.\r Bombay Grille is just awful. Junk, high priced food, horrible service. Just a pure rip off. \r Cons: awful food, horrible service. more

Stellar buffet! 6/30/2008

I have to begin by disagreeing with the comments about service. I worked three years in an Indian restaurant, and I found the service at this establishment to surpass my expectations. The host was very friendly, offering mango lassi samples, and encouraging us to return to the buffet time and again. The food was very good. Nan was served tableside, and there was a large assortment of chicken, lamb and paneer, as well as soup, salad and dessert. I brought an Indian dining novice with me, and she loved her experience. Her favorite dish was the spinach, which was very yummy. The only addition I would like to see to the buffet would be pakora or samosa. I plan on going back for my anniversary.... more

HORRENDOUS customer service! 10/27/2007

Great food. But the service goes beyond rude and is actually hostile! They act like they are doing you a favor by serving you food, and treat you with the disdain of someone picking up a dead rodent out of a sewer. There are too many great Indian restaurants in the area (and within a 1 mile radius) to contend with such awful behavior! I will never go there again. I don't care how good their food is - I refuse to pay top dollar for food and be treated like garbage! more

My favorite Indian restaurant anywhere! 6/9/2007

I absolutely love Bombay Grille!! The food is outstanding - I've never had a bad meal there, and I've never found another Indian restaurant that even compares as far as the food goes. The service is not the greatest - we do on occasion find that the service is quite slow and the waiters are not always the most friendly, but overall it's not bad service. Fairly nice ambiance, and we don't typically have to wait too long for our food to come. But because the food is so good, I recommend this restaurant very highly - I've lived in 3 other states and have never found an Indian restaurant that's so good. I now live in another state but always make a point of visiting Bombay Grille when I'm in town. Be sure to try the chicken makhni - it's excellent! Pros: Food is amazing, ambiance is quite nice Cons: Service can be poor on occasion more

Avoid this restaurant and choose other Indian restaurants in the area 4/8/2007

Prices charged for regular items are approx $5-$10 more than other indian restaurants in the area. Customer service is rude and unhelpful. Food tastes mediocre, portions are small and corners are cut by serving rice instead of naan (bread). The only positive is the decor and availability of parking space which is not a big problem in the area anyway. Avoid and go to other restaurants Pros: Nice decor, parking space Cons: Pretty much everything more

We arrived at 2 p.m. and asked for the menu list, not the buffet. The Waiter said that all the entrees will be ready at least in 30 ( ! ) minutes. He removed all napkins from our table, didn't offered any drink. We agreed to buffet, but it was no tandoori chiken. The food was tasty, but we didn't get our bread, also after 3-4 times reminding. Finaly we ordered onion kulcha and after we waited 25 minutes my husband called to the waiter and asked him"""" whats going on"". He answered that they have problem with their oven and this day is complitely a mess. Only after complaing about service they apologized and redused the bill. Maybe you will be luckier than me, but I will not go their anymore. more

Highly recommend 8/25/2005

After sampling several Indian restaurants in Michigan, Bombay Grill (formerly Shalimar) still tops the list. Without compromising quality, Bombay Grill keeps its prices around $10-15 per dish. We have ordered at least a dozen different entrees here and have never had a bad dish. The wait staff is very attentive, polite, and professional; everybody pitches in to ensure that your experience is a pleasant one. After being seated, you are greeted with a hot towel and a small complimentary Indian beverage. Wait staff are happy to make recommendations, and it is not unusual for the owner/chef to visit your table. As an added touch, women receive a rose on their way out the door. Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance more
