*Note - First off, I?m particularly impatient when it comes to parking. Personally, I believe every establishment should offer valet as a basic service. So, the valet was definitely a plus. I pulled up on the opposite side of the street and hesitated for just a moment. The valet sprang into action and traded me a ticket stub for my keys. An attentive valet is always an excellent first move.
The Boheme caf? and wine bar was an absolutely pleasant experience. I was at peace with the entire look, feel, taste and sound. It was aesthetically pleasing to all of the senses. I felt as soon as I walked in I had found my place in the world I just couldn?t ascertain where exactly that was. As soon as I entered my ears were pleasantly invaded by the sounds of Brazil, Argentina or some South American country like that. I?m no expert on international music.
Noticeably greeted with a smile, I felt the staff was attentive. I took a detour from my usual Dos Equis vice and indulged myself in a bottle of Bianchi. Being a wine bar, Boheme has many excellent selections. I also liked their Arauro Pinot I tried by suggestion of the main bartender, who appeared to be fairly knowledgeable.
An immense wood and stone wrap around bar sits right in the middle of the main room. The seating was sufficient. Boheme has a variety of couches and seating options. The art on display reminded me of grant wood, a gothic feel to it. These pieces would meet the end of their tenure by the end of the week; as I was informed the owner Morgan Holleman prefers to rotate many of the pieces on a weekly to monthly basis.
The d?cor was soothing and intriguing. Venetian style stucco walls, oversized sconces, antique lighting, stained glass hanging sections to name just a few of the interesting extras you will see adorning the Boheme. The surrounding garden is sparse on the greenery but is a suitable patio with an extra bar
The menu was limited but quality. Samusas, Empanadas, Pizzas, and Quiche. In addition to wine they also offered espresso, cappuccino
The Boheme houses a worldly feel collection of culture and international appeal, Holleman plays the role of ambassador of good food, excellent wine, and good times. I will say the Bar Boheme is certainly an asset to Montrose and Houston.
